would this bother you?

A co-worker/friend of DH's created a March of Dimes walk-a-thon team for DS since he was born with a heart defect. She didn't mention this to DH or I first, just sent out an email to DH and others announcing the team "We love Connor" and asking for support in the walk. MOD is a great cause and DH and I have no problem joining the walk or giving money, but we are irritated she didn't ask us first. Would you feel the same way, or are we blowing it out of proportion?

Re: would this bother you?

  • i might think "huh, that's odd" but i wouldn't be 'irritated' per se, esp as long as she is not asking you to do a lot of footwork. sounds like maybe this is a cause she would like to support anyway and is glad to be able to know someone it means something to?

  • ditto. ?I'd think it was really strange that she set it up without consulting me, but I'd probably brush it off.
  • I think the gesture was nice but it is a little weird she did not tell you/ask you about it first.

It seems like her heart is totally in the right place, I would just accept it as a kind gesture and thank her for thinking of you.

  • Maybe "irritated" was the wrong word to use. We aren't mad at her, just wish she would have told us first. Her heart is totally in the right place and she is always doing nice things for DS to show her love for him.
  • I would have preferred her asking me first! i'm just weird, and don't like personal stuff that i haven't really okayed broadcast to friends and coworkers via e-mail!
