Pregnant after a Loss

35 weeks and haven't started nursery!

I'm really starting to panic here!  We haven't been able to pain the nursery yet and the furniture still isn't here.  My parents were planning on painting a couple of weeks ago when we were on vacation but my mom came down with the flu and still isn't 100%.  DH is in school on top of working full time (and he just started a new position on Monday).  My mom called the other night and told me she was hiring a painter for us so that's a step but I really don't think it will be done in time.  Anyone else as behind as we are?

Re: 35 weeks and haven't started nursery!

  • I'm not exactly there but it only took 2 weekends for DH to get the majority of the nursery done.  It's time to start but I really think it can be done before the baby comes.

  • We are! Although it is intentional. We aren't doing a nursery until after she arrives. You still have some time. Getting the painting done will help.
  • I'm not far behind you and our nursery is still in shambles.  Our furniture has arrived, but it can't be set up until we receive our master bedroom furniture (nursery is currently serving as DH's dressing room because our closet is so small).  As renters, we can't paint so that's one less thing to do, but I don't have bedding or any decor yet.  It's definitely going to be down to the wire... with finishing touches during mat. leave.
  • We had nothing done until this past weekend (well, I did have it painted b/c I did that way before I was pg).  We were waiting to get our crib before we did anything and the room was still a guest room/office as of Saturday morning.  But recruited my parents and the ILs and we got a ton of stuff done.  Its still not totally done (we don't have a mattress yet! or a rocker/glider) but I feel much better.  Is there a way you can recruit a bunch of help as soon as the furniture is in?  It'll go so much faster that way.  Having a painter come in will make a huge difference too.  You'll get it done!!

  • Don't feel bad...I took so long to decide on the crib that it's not coming until mid-April!  I got annoyed with the company that we ordered a dresser from (not part of the crib collection) and canceled the order out of frustration, even though it was the perfect match.  Still haven't ordered a new one yet.  The rug I ordered from PBK...just got a letter that they are no longer in stock, so no rug for us!

We have the walls painted, rocker and changing table assembled... we have a crib mattress... he'll sleep in the bassinett for awhile, so at least I know I can rock him, changing him and he has a place to sleep!

  • Honestly you will be fine because the baby will be sleeping in your room at first so they will not even be in there.  I would go ahead and get going but I would not panic!
