For the past couple of nights, Joshua has been waking up every 3 hours to eat. He had been sleeping from around 10p-4a for a month or two and now all of a sudden, I feel we have regressed back to when he was a newborn..and God knows I do not want to repeat those sleepless nights. It's like after he turned 4 months, he hasn't been sleeping. And he hardly sleeps during the day either. He will take 30min cat naps here and there but not a long one. He is mostly pleasant and happy it seems, but putting him to sleep can be a challenge b/c he just doesn't want to do it. Anyways, just writing to see if any of you mamas have this same issue.
Re: nighttime sleeping
if he's falling asleep while you nurse him, that could also be a problem. babies need to learn how to put themselves to sleep. try laying him down drowsy but still awake, that way when he wakes in the night he'll know how to soothe himself back to sleep
This is a really common 4 month problem it seems... Nadia and I hit a wall a few weeks ago and I had over a week of crappy nights.
I agree with Mel, do not feed him. My rule is- no bottles before 5am. I figure, If they could go the night without eating before, then why can't she/he do it now?
I console her in her crib as much as I can and if it's really bad (screaming baby) then I sit with her and rock her until she calms down and then back in the crib she goes.
I know it's diff because you are breast feeding... But last week I started REALLY packing in her feedings before bed time to make sure her tank was all the way full (and I will not lie, I started adding cereal too). Since then, we are back to sleeping the night. (Although last night she woke up at 4:30- not sure why...)
GOOD LUCK!
