How to make homemade wipes :-)

In honor of our lovely economy right now here is a recipe for homemade wipes:

-1 roll of paper towels cut in half (Bounty Select-a-size work well and a serrated knife is best for cutting)

-2 T of baby oil
-1.5 T of baby bath
-1.5 Cups of hot water

Cut paper towel roll in half and place cut side down in container (I have a tupperware one that has a hole in the top to pull the wipes out of). Mix the liquids and pour them over the paper towels. Remove the cardboard center. Let sit for about an hour. Pull wipes from the center through the hole in the container lid. Voila!

  • Save even more by using those thin baby washcloths and a spray bottle of water. Wash with laundry. I have never bought wipes and it is fantastic :)
  • Am I the only one who thinks wipes aren't that expensive? A box will last me almost 3 weeks and it costs like $3 and doesnt involve cutting paper towels in half. Am I missing something?

I reuse wipes for mostly enviornmental reasons. Its not just throwing them away but the processing and packaging that bothers me. Never having to buy them or run out of them doesn't suck either though!

I think the saving will add up even making your own dispoables. Everything counts these days.

I get that. I guess since I work they just seem to last forever for me. I dont wipe for pee (except first thing in the AM)  and my baby poops at daycare so I use like one wipe a day. But, I get your reasoning.

  • Well I use wipes a lot more than that so for us it is a money saver, and as pp said every penny counts right now :-)
