Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What do you pay for daycare (again, I know...)

So with our daycare debate here, the different in switching is going from $540/month to $903/month. I don't even know what norm around here is, or what the norm for most people is.

What do you pay for a daycare center a month?

I'd do a poll but the poll feature will not work for me..

And I know it varies by region-- I'll keep that in mind.

  • DD goes to in home for $400/month but when she was going to a center it was $715/month under one year Then it dropped to $680 after they turn one.
  • I have a nanny and am super spoiled cause she hardly charges me anything...but in Chicago you are looking at $800-$1200 for a center.
  • Most centers around here are $1,200 a month.
This is why I went with an in-home provider instead. I only pay $300 a month.
  • There's a really good at home daycare that's $400 a month.  I pay my Dad to come to my house $800 a month. It's a 40 min. drive for him. I also pay on holidays, spring break, and if I take a day off or he has too.  Oh on Fridays he comes an hour later.

  • $940/month

  • Our center is awesome, and its only $40 a day(open 6a-6p M-F)...approx. $800 a month.  We are in Vegas though, where I believe the cost of living is generally lower than most.

  • We go to a chain and it's $1352 and it includes food (it's $312 a week, so I averaged it to get a monthly figure).  I have to provide diapers and wipes.
  • $800 a month in Northern NJ near NYC. The George Washington is the view out my window.I know I can't believe it either. I live in more central NJ & the daycares here are less. I was shocked. It is more expensive for daycare in upstate NY where I'm originally from. Weird. The daycare there was $908 a month.

  • $1000 a month for just three days a week!

If he went full time it would be $1400, so I have my mom watch him one day a week and I work from home another day. It's crazy $$ but we're in a suburb of NYC. It's run by my work and is next door so I can go there and nurse him twice a day which helps keep my supply up and of course I get to see him which makes it all worth it.

  • In SLC, UT.....$141/wk for 4 days
  • $100 a week, although we only have him in for 3 days. ?Our daycare provider is also an SAHM who is licensed and takes care of 5 kids. ?

For a center in our area it was around $200 a week and we didn't have the option to go part-time. ?Just to compare the two, it would be $150 for 5 days a week with our current provider.

And she provides food (all homemade!) and diaper wipes. ?

  • 5 days a week, 9am-5pm. We pay $1475 a month at a center with a 3 babies to 1 caretaker ratio. Our center is at Berkeley, CA, which is considered San Francisco metro. This is typical. The one near my house is actually $1800 and our old daycare was $1100.
  • I SAH, but DH and I did price a few centers while I was pregnant and the average price around here was $1000/month
