It seems MH's doctor prefers to try everything under the sun before telling us to go to IVF. He just put MH on clomid for 3 months to see if that increases his sperm production. From what I read online it works but it doesn't result in an increased pregnancy rate for those infertile couples. Not sure why- maybe b/c it doesn't improve morph/motility? Anyway, it doesn't seem like this is a common treatment on this board and I'm wondering if that's b/c it's a waste of time or what... He even said after we wait the 3 months if it doesn't work he'll try more powerful drugs (b/c MH's prolactin level was a little higher than normal). So if we follow this regime it could be 6 months before we get told IVF is the only option.
Any help you can give is appreciated!
Re: MFI nesties: Did your Hs go on Clomid?
Yes, it is pretty common. My DH was on it for 4 or 5 months, but his dr. said it make take up to a year to see a good improvement. However, my DH suffers from very very low testosterone (his level was 38!) and the clomid was supposed help increase that and in turn, increase sperm counts, etc.
It did not work for my DH, so the next step for him was 3x week hCG injections and that did the trick! Put his hormones and sperm counts back in the normal range! Took a while (all things MFI always take forever because they only produce new sperm every 3 months)
Good Luck to you!

TTC Journey Over~ Not By Choice
My husband was put on clomid because he had low counts on everything (count, morph, motility) as well as a low testosterone level (108, I think). 3 months later his testosterone level was 805 (high normal) and his motility had gone from 12% to 58%. Our urologist said that motility was the first parameter to increase and with the response he had, count and morph should not be too far behind.
I do not know why clomid treatments would not make a difference for infertile couples...that seems really strange. If it did not make a difference then why would they do it? I would think that if the sperm parameters improve then it would increase your conception chances. I hope that helps. Good luck!!!
