What does allergy/skin reaction look like? CC related.

We ran out of CC!  My husband bought All Clear, the concentrated version that we never used before.

I THINK the timing is right, and my 2 year old son has been having these weird skin issues.  He has what looks like mosquito bites on his thighs mostly.  Last week he was at the doctor for something else (bad breath!) and the doctor looked at them but couldn't really give a good reason for them.  Skin irritation.  They are clustered, red, no discharge.

Well I'm worried because now I've found some on his chest, his arms, and one on his face!  He also just screamed  and screamed for 45 minutes, refusing to nap.

I took out his linens and am washing them, looked under the crib for a spider's nest (nothing), and left a message for the doctor.

So does this sound like a skin irritation to the new soap?  Its weird because you would think that that stuff would be the best commercial stuff.  ??  If it does sound like a reaction to All Clear, then I'm out of luck washing his sheets and blankets in that soap!

Wow, I miss CrunchyClean!!  I wonder if she would take a rush order?!

  • Wow!  Poor thing!  That does sound similar to what I experience when I'm allergic to a fragrance.  I get small, mosquito bite looking marks that turn into larger hives that run together in places ... if that makes sense.  Mine are normally on my thighs, arms, and lower torso.  Is he itchy?

If you think its the soap, I would wash everything in water only to try to get rid of any residue.

  • He doesn't know the word itchy :(  I don't know if he is.  I haven't seen him scratch, he isn't crying now that we gave up the nap, and he seems to be okay.  But I hate the look of those marks on his skin!

Well, I might need to go buy another brand of soap until I can get CC.  What's a good brand?

  • Try putting a cool compress on the spots to see if they lessen.  Cold wash rag, bag of peas wrapped in a towel, etc.  The cold will constrict the blood vessels and should help with inflammation, if its an allergy type thing.

As for detergent, I really don't know!  Have you used CC exclusively with him, or did you use something before that?  What can you pick up easily locally?

  • I get either big red slightly puffy patches or tiny bumps that I wind up wanting to claw out from my skin.  I imagine that if I had no words, I'd probably just scream all the time.  Sometimes I do that even though I have words, so it sounds like a skin thing to me :(

Do you have access to Seventh Generation, Method, or Costco's EF detergent?  Those give me very little to no issues, and I'm not sure if they're CD safe, but they might help with sheets and clothing.

Ditto the cold cloths to help soothe, and I hope the poor kiddo gets better soon!

  • Email me at crunchyclean     at gmail and I bet we can figure something out :)  Poor guy ... I have issues that sound similar to that ... especially on my thighs where my pants hit the most (I guess?)

  • Thank you Squeaky!  I just emailed you.

Target has 7th Generation, so maybe I'll get some though I imagine and hope that CC will be on its way soon enough.

    thanks everyone!

  • You could try Planet - it's available at Safeway and some other grocery stores.
