EGG BEATERS

How do you all feel about egg beaters? My DS loves scrambled eggs which i make him probably 4X/week. I usually eat eggbeaters. Do you think they are ok to give him in a pinch? Not really sure if they are real eggs or not...but they are sooo much easier to make!

Re: EGG BEATERS

  • They are real eggs. It says so right on the package. That's typically all we use there, too, but DS hates eggs so far (real or Egg Beaters). I'd buy real ones for him if he liked them as a meal, but I'll continue to use Egg Beaters with the stuff we cook for us in recipes and such.?

  • I'd stick to real eggs if I were you. Egg Beaters are made with real egg whites but they add a bunch of junk in there to make up for the yolk that has been removed...synthetic vitamins, food coloring and preservatives. I try to avoid that kind of stuff in foods I give DD (and myself). GL!

Ditto. Egg Beaters are total Frankenfood - the real thing is much better for you and babies.

  • check out the ingredients on the ones you have...mine say 99% egg whites.  and the other ingredients aren't chemicals or scary looking stuff...so i feed them to DD sometimes (she doesn't really like egg but we keep trying)
  • Even aside from the additives in egg beaters, egg yolks have choline and DHA which are good for brain development, so it's better to use whole eggs for young kids. I usually give DD one whole egg and one egg white.
