Re: xp: how to tell HR not coming back

  • Are you getting any SDI/PFL money right now?  I've heard that if you quit your job while getting that $ you are no longer entitled to it and the state has the right to ask for it back.  If you've gotten it all, I would tell them asap, as a gesture of good faith.

    Congrats

  • As an HR Manager, I  appreciate when employees are just honest and up front with us.  So I would just call and tell them that you will not be coming back.  The sooner that HR knows these things the easier it is for thems to plan.  Just establish what your official last day will be so that HR can get your paperwork ready, and you can arrange a time to come in and sign off on everything.  HR can discuss your leaving with your supervisor.

    Congrats on a big decision!

  • I would just do my standard "I am resigning effective date. Thank you for the wonderful opportunities company xxx provided." Nothing further in writing. Talk to your boss and let him/her know verbally that you've decided to focus on your family and not return to work right away.

Some companies also require you pay back benefits if they paid while you were on leave. Just something to consider - a lot of people will come back for a week and then resign so they don't have to pay it back.
