2nd Trimester

Is everyone still in their "pre-pregnancy" maternity size?

The last few days, I feel like I'm busting out of my maternity pants. The belly feels fine, but the butt and thighs are tight.  They may have shrunk a little in the wash, but I really didn't want to go out and buy all new pants now when the summer is coming and I'll want capris and dresses instead.

Is this normal? They always say to buy your pre-pregnancy size and it should fit throughout your pregnancy. I was a Size 8 or 10 pre-pregnancy which is a Medium in Motherhood sizes, but now I'll be a large, I guess :(

Re: Is everyone still in their "pre-pregnancy" maternity size?

  • Yes I am still in my prepregnancy materinity size...the only thing I hate is that all the pants seem to be short!

  • So far I still am but who knows how long it will last!
  • Nope, I started buying a size bigger and am glad that I did b/c they are so comfy.  A little big, but they will last me through the end.
  • I had to get pregnancy pants this weekend that will fit the next growth spurt - my first two pairs of pregnancy pants are too tight now (were more for 0-3 month not 3-9month)

  • I am in everything except a pair of yoga pants & pajama pants. I bought the yoga pants a size larger though since I know I want to wear them at the very end of PG too.
  • don't worry there are a lot of people who need bigger sizes. i have a hard time finding clothes to fit my body and PG are worse, i go from m -xl maternity sizes. it is a pain.

blame it on the dryer. :)

  • Well I sure hope mine still fit later on because I splurged a lot of cash on the 2 pairs I have!

  • I am still in my prepregnancy maternity size (or smaller).  I didn't know this rule about buying your pre pregnancy size because when I first found out I was pregnant JCPenny had a huge sale and I got 2 pairs of capri pants and 1 pair of Bramuda shorts for $3 each.  Well i bought them a size bigger than I normally am and I just don't know if they are ever going to fit because they are SOO big.
  • I'm still in the same PP size I was after having DS. Yay. I'm sure I'll be going up one though.
  • For the most part I'm the same size other than my ginormous boobs.  I do think I'll have to get bigger pants in the later part of the pregnancy though, which sucks but it's all about comfort.

  • Pretty much the same but in a few things I have gone up a size.  The key for me has been to try stuff on, it all fits a bit different, from what I have experienced.
  • Yes, but I'm sure I'll have to move up a size before the end of this pregnancy because I was a 6 pre pg but could wear an 8 depending on the pants. The Motherhood pants in small seem to fit well- great in butt and legs but I'm guessing that will change..

  • I'm still wearing pre-pregnancy clothes. My jeans fit okay because they're low rise, but my shirts are getting short!

Wow, can't believe you made it to 19 weeks in your prepregnancy clothes!  I haven't been comfortable in my prepregnancy jeans in a LONG time.

  • Maybe you're not supposed to be in a medium at Motherhood?  I'm a size 10 in pants, 6/8 in dresses normally and the sales lady told me that size 10 pants = large (which is annoying b/c, I don't know about you, but I will buy something that doesn't look good on me if it means I can buy the small size or will skip something that looks great if I need to buy the "bigger" size.  I have issues like that:))

  • I actually had to go down a size cause the plus size pants ate me alive.

  • Alas I am not. I have gone up a size (which is no wonder cause I've already put on close to 35 lbs.) but I love having an appitite and these boobs are glorious!
  • I'm TOTALLY having this same problem!!!!  My mat. pants are tight on me now and I've already spent what I feel is enough on clothes for a while!!!  It sucks.
  • I had to go up a size in my bottoms, but stayed the same in my tops. For summer I have ONLY bought dresses and gauchos, because I do not want to buy shorts now and have them not fit.  I did finally buy some of those cargos that you can roll up into capris last night, but I have a feeling those will not make it to summer, just spring.

  • i'm still in my pre-pregnancy maternity size. ?your pants just might have shrunk. ?
  • Not yet gone to the next size, but I have been hanging everything up to dry and not been throwing in the dryer.  I expect things to change the last month or so. Plus, the designer lines are more $$ but are designed better and should last longer.  I think because of my size my stuff was too big when i bought it and now fits.
  • I'm still in my pre-pregnancy clothes. Jeans are starting to get a little snug in the hips/butt, I wear the bella band and they are fine. Dress pants are fine since they are more flowy in the legs and butt. I have a handful of maternity tops but most of those are still kind of big on me still.?

  • I have one pair of pants in my pre-pg size that I have pretty much outgrown (I'm blaming the drier, like pp said). I think the others will be ok (knocking on wood) but I am going to need at least one more pair of jeans to make it through.
