Ok, so when am I going to get my "nips of steel"?

DS is 2-1/2 weeks old, and over the past week, I've started exclusively pumping, and it hurts like a son of a b! How long before my poor nips get adjusted to this? I have to hold my arm over my chest in the shower so the spray of water doesn't kill me!?

Man! I remember those days, my shower brought me to tears too! Are you sure you horns are the right size? You can purchase bigger ones, as well as comfort inserts. I think BRU has some. For now I would try Lanolin, on the nips as well as the inside of the horns, or you can just try dampning the horns with some BM.

For now, you could try some comfort gel pads to soothe them. You can get these at Target.

It may seem far away now but at 6 weeks everything turned around for me. Until that point I was showering with washcloths over my chest, it's rough when even the few relaxing moments in the shower can bring you to tears. Before you know it everything will likely be so much smoother.

Mine hurt, but I prefer Mother Love Nipple Cream to lanolin. They sell it at Whole Foods. Great product!!

honestly- try to keep nursing. you don't want to get stuck EPing forever. i know it hurts- whenever you are done nursing put lanolin on them. they will 'steel' up. promise.
