2nd Trimester

Big u/s on Friday.. any bets on how long we can hold the envelope??

I'm going to have to keep super occupied for the next 2 (almost 3) months... EEK!

We might have to put it in a lock-box and send the key to my sister- I can't send her the results, or she'll look. I can't leave them at home, or DH will look. And if he doesn't, I'm sure I'll think he did anyway (LOL.. I'm only kind of kidding) and want to have a look, myself.

I'm starting to get really torn.. I want to know if this is a boy or a girl (I don't care which- it would just be nice to know), but I also want to do the fun party with the big surprise "It's a _______!" cake!

I should think of a nice incentive other than finding out for if we make it all the way to Memorial Day weekend with the envelope intact.. any ideas?

  • we are not finding out but i dont think i could hold on to that info without ripping it to shreds lol good luck

  • Give it to someone!! That will be the only way.

It is so hard! When we did it with DS, we'd bought a onesie and had it wrapped with the results. The box was under our Christmas tree for MAYBE 3 days before I begged a friend to come get it. She was instructed not to return it until Cmas Eve. Even that night was hard but of course we weren't going to ruin it at that point.

This time, we're only waiting a few days so hopefully we can keep it in the house!

In the end, if you decide not to wait, you can still do the cake for your family and friends! It will still be very exciting!

  • I wouldn't be able to wait!  But that is just me... I would be ripping the envelope open on the way home or on the way out of the OB's office.
  • I don't understand. If you don't want to know why don't you just tell that to the u/s tech? They'll tell you to look away or not even go down there.

Having a party in May to reveal the sex to family, friends, and ourselves through the cunning use of cake icing. We need the results to have the cake made but we want it to be a surprise.

Ang- I considered looking and having a special dinner with DH and then revealing to everyone else later, but I know we would slip and it would be way more exciting (for me, at least, and I have to carry this baby, LOL!!) to have it as a surprise until the party.

  • LOL Maybe I'll do the "credit card freeze" on it.. Put it in a baggie and freeze it in a block of ice.. Can you imagine bringing a block of ice to the cake store with directions on what to do with it?? OMG THAT might be my incentive- seeing the look on the baker's face..

I can understand that! Girl, you have a tough job! I am a big fan of sealing the results for a special event but that's a long time. The anticipation will be crazyy..... I can't wait to talk to you when you HAVE the results! LOL

  • Haha- you'll hear my screeching all the way in Atlanta!!

  • We go on Wed and hope they cooperate.  We are going to have the u/s tech do the same thing because we are undecided as well.  We agreed that we would decide by the weekend if we were going to open the envelope or not.  And if we decide not to open it, we are going to shred it.

  • In a moment of weakness right before the ultrasound (and some pestering on DH's part) we got the envelope. Nearly 6 weeks later, it's still not opened. I hid it and I hardly think about it. I'm over it - we will wait until the little peanut is born. You can do it! Wait until May, it will be so memorable!

Oh, good- that gives me hope! I'll hide it somewhere (HA- maybe with my skinny clothes that I won't be wearing for awhile or something)..
