Clicky poll: is your house a mess?

Mine is usually quite dissheveled despite my frantic attempts, but we don't get much sleep around here.  I think if we did, it would be better![Poll]

  • That's funny, KG did a similar poll earlier today.

  • My apartment is a little messy meaning there's toys and stuff that should be put away, but it's clean, iykwim....I wipe down the kitchen everyday, toilets are cleaned, trash is thrown out - I'm not anal but I don't like when things are dirty. ?Plus, the bugs here are ridiculous so there can't be any crumbs left on the floor or anything like that....

  • Other -DH is a SAHD for right now... (temporarily laid off) and does a pretty awesome job at keeping the house in order.  It looks way better than it does when we both are working, thats for sure!

  • I'm a full time student carrying 18 hrs this semester. The house is usually pretty messy. I try to do a load of dishes & laundry a day, but it gets out of hand. We usually tag team it on the weekend if dh is off.

    this.
  • sahm. my house is clean, laundry and dishes are done, but there are toys out during the day (i put everything away at night).
  • I work and my house is pretty much immaculate all the time. ?I have a weekly cleaning lady who cleans the house and does all our laundry. ?We have a nanny here 3 days/week who also does alot of light housekeeping. ?When I'm here on my days off and the weekend, it gets messy when I'm playing with DS but I clean up during his naps and at night. ?
  • We both work FT. Our house looks like a tornado hit. Once, DH brought someone home from work to see something here and I cried after she left because I was so embarrassed.

  • I've been sick for a few days and haven't been able to get out of bed.  I joked to DH that our house looks like octomom's house at the moment.
  • The difference between my house and my sister's?

Mine is clean but cluttery. Hers is slightly less cluttery, but filthy.

Aw :-(  I've felt that way on many an occasion.  I posted the poll because I feel really incompetent that I can't keep the house immaculate & take care of DD.  I can't imagine WHAT's going to happen when I go back to work!  I also pay all the bills, do the grocery shopping & almost all of the cooking, and am also the one that gets up with DD 90% of the time during the night (which can mean up to 8 times/night!).  We have 3 bedrooms & 2 1/2 bathrooms & 2 floors & I find it overwhelming (it's not a huge house, but we moved 1+hours south of our jobs & family so we could afford a family-sized house we could grow into).  DD is also extremely high-maintenance, a terrible napper, and very active, plus I'm anal when I clean (e.g. before DD, I would spend a whole hour cleaning the bathroom because I cleaned every inch of it thoroughly).

Also, DH will help if I ask him to, but unless I ask, he sits in front of the tv on his days off until I request his help.  If I ask, he doesn't complain, but I get tired of having to ask him :-(

  • DH is a SAHD right now but the house is cluttered, slightly messy, not too dirty. We have had a clearning person come every 8 weeks-ish but soon will discontinue that due to finances. It's sad because while DH is an excellent cook (he likes it and did it when he worked too), he's sucky at cleaning. He's just starting to do laundry now a days.
