Since we are on the subject....
About 3 years ago my former assistant (a man) was turning 30. My business partner and I were invited by his girlfriend to his 30th birthday party. We were then told that he was "registered" at Amazon.com or something like that. We thought it was hilarious and went to his registry, where we found various video games and D&D paraphenalia. We bought a gift off of there. We then went to the party, where there was a formal "gift opening" like at a 5-year-old's party. The bday boy would open the present and jump up yelling "Yeah, hell yea!" while waving the present in the air whenever he got something he really liked.
Re: Funny birthday party registry story
LOL! I never heard of anyone actually doing that for a birthday before! I used to write detailed lists for my parents when I was younger for Christmas and my birthday (right after xmas)... it was kind of a joke each year they'd ask me for my "list". They would have thought it was hilarious if I actually registered somewhere!
Hahaha! Did you get conical hats, kazoos, and party favors too?
I give my parents and DH a wish list every year for Christmas/birthday - but I'd never think to invite people to a birthday party with a registry!
Wait - so do children have registries for their birthdays now???
