How often does DC play with other children?

Almost never, and I'm starting to feel bad about this. Whenever we go to the park, it is empty. We go swimming, but she only interacts with us. None of my friends have kids (though one is PG, so that's a future playmate!).

Yesterday we met up with my stepcousin and her children, and I realized it's been a long time since she played with kids.

Re: How often does DC play with other children?

  • Almost daily. On weekends I spend alot of time with my family so she is playing with her cousins and then during the week (tue-fri) she is at a sitters half day so she gets other kiddo interaction there as well.

  • aidan plays with kids every morning at the gym. other than that - no. she does get A LOT of interaction from adults though. we have a lot of friends that come over and plays with aidan so that is nice. none of my friends or siblings have kids yet (that live here) and i am not big on playgroups.

the gym has been so great for her - its 2 hrs (max) of running around and playing with kids of all ages.

  • Not much!!  I feel bad about it too.  We don't have any kids in our family, other than our 6 month old nephew but he doesn't play yet.  Some of our friends have little kids but we don't get together often enough.

But, today is the first day that I am watching a friends 10 month old son!  I will have him on Monday's for the next couple months.  So that is better than nothing! Wish me luck! lol

  • DD is in daycare so she's with other kids all the time.  But, if it were up to us, she wouldn't see kids much.  None of our friends have kids her age.  There are a few boys in our neighborhood but because it's cold out, no one is ever out playing.

I keep hoping that when spring/summer rolls around we'll be able to get out more and meet some kids her age in our neighborhood.

  • I am right there with you Brightning.  My Mom and Dad watches Paige Mon-Thurs so she is just around them and my Grandmother and Brother.  Then on Fridays it is Mommy and Paige time so we tend to do shopping and hang out together.  Saturdays is family day so we go to the park some but ours is always empty too!  Then Sunday is the one day she sees kids.  We go to church and she plays in the nursery - HOWEVER, everytime I ask how she was they say "She was perfect!  She just went over and was quiet and played by herself!"  So she does not interact with the other children.  My friend has a Grandson that is 2 and they play together about once a month.  But still not really "with" each other.  But she will give other kids kisses and hugs.  But she really likes adults.  Which is how I grew up.  My parents belonged to so much stuff that we were always around their friends and so when I was in H.S. I had a lot of adult friends but could not stand girls my own age - I am still like that a lot today.  I have a few friends my age but not many.   Anyway, I know this is long to just answer but my answer is - NOT ENOUGH!  Maybe we should get together for a play date.....lol.

  • pretty much 5 days a week.  not so much on the weekends unless we see my niece.  but when the weather warms up we will be doing all kinds of stuff.  during the week he goes to daycare 3 days he is in a room ages 18 months - 30 months.  and then two days per week he is with my sil and also sees he grandparents/aunts/uncles.  and sil watches another lo, a 10 month old girl.
  • At least 5 times per week.  That was one of the reasons we put him in a dayhome F/T even though I only work PT.
  • he doesnt :( i dont have any mom friends, only one of dh's friends have kids but they are older girls 6 and 11 so too old for max to play with, another friend has a 3 month old too young to play also and she lives like 2 1/2 hours away :( so he pretty much plays with the dog or us :)
  • He didn't for a long time cuz I have no mom friends, but he has 2 older siblings so that helps.

We go gymbo 1 time a week and then next year he will go to preschool.

  • I'm thankful that the boys are so close in age they have a playmate all the time. We try to go to playdate at least once a week though.
  • Well, obviously, my girls play with each other all the time. But they do get a decent amount of interaction with other children, too.  We go to music and gymnastics once per week.  And I go to the gym and the girls go to the daycare there.  We do occasional playdates, too.

  • DD is in daycare Mon-Fri, so she plays with a couple kids.  On the weekends its just us, unless my niece is visiting or we go hang out at  friends house when they have get togethers.
