Happiest Baby on the Block Book

I have had a couple people mention this book to me and I saw a posted about it today.  Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

Re: Happiest Baby on the Block Book

  • My mom bought it for me. I don't think I ever read it from cover to cover but I read parts and used a few tips from it (don't ask me what, I don't remember now). It's interesting enough. I also have Happiest Toddler on the Block.

  • We bought the DVD and found it so helpful when DD was little.
  • It has a video right?

    that whole 5s thing?

I have seen it, with that Dr. thats all about swaddling .....

correct if I'm wrong ..... please lol

  • I have had a few friends tell me to buy this book, but I never did. I think with this baby that I will be buying it though.
  • I haven't read it- but maybe I will check it out at barnes and noble on my day off tomorrow... I am borrowing Belly Laughs from a friend to read this weekend- I heard that was hilarious
  • My BIL/SIL read it and loved it, and recommend we read it.
  • I highly recommend it ~ we read it when I had DS (and now I'm looking forward to reading the Happiest Toddler on the Block).  It made all the difference for us.

You don't have to sit and read the whole thing through - we skipped around a lot and read the stuff that really applied to our situation.

Yes, the 5 S's.... swaddle, side/stomach, shhh, swing, sucking.

The swaddling for sure saved our lives - and I always ask my mom why she didn't do it for me!  Apparently I was a tough baby... Wink

  • I've had friends swear by the book as well. Our hospital offers a class based on the book, it's $20.00 per couple. You may want to look into that as well.
  • Absolutely I would recommend it. I didn't read the whole thing- we bought it just as DD was getting out of that stage of life, but for the few weeks we did read it, it was very helpful.

I'm planning on re-reading the whole thing sometime in my 3rd tri
