2nd Trimester

When did you first feel the baby moving?

It has a fancy name for the first movements you feel.   I can't remember what it is right now.  Has anyone felt it yet?  When?  I just read on a website that 13 weeks is when you do, but that sounds so so early.

Re: When did you first feel the baby moving?

  • "flutters" I felt mine and a kick at 16.5 weeks.

  • I started feeling flutters at around 17 weeks and kicks at 19 weeks.
  • its called quickening....and i have felt it for about two weeks now, before it wasn't as definite, now i am sure that it is the baby. feels a little stronger now and im 18 weeks.
  • Most sites refer to the "flutters" as quickening. I first started feeling "flutters" at 16 weeks and have felt much more movement and stronger kicks/punches in the last week.
  • This past week I've really felt the baby start to move, but it's not all the time and it's very faint.

  • Maybe I was a little late but I didn't feel anything until my 20th week.?
  • I believe you're referring to quickening. It feels like a butterfly fluttering around. I heard that if you are lying in the "right" position you can feel it as early as week 14... but is most commonly noticed in between weeks 16 & 20.

  • I started feeling little nudges at the end of my 15th week.  It was very random, not everyday.  Now I feel her kicking and punching at numerous times throughout the day and DH felt her for the first time last night.
  • Still waiting...but I have an anterior placenta, so I'm expecting sometime in the next two weeks.

  • I read 13 weeks and I was like...WHAT??  It's only like 2 inches long.  There's no way.  I was just checking.  I'll be 13 wks in a few days.  16-20 wks sounds more realistic to me.
  • I started feeling her around 17 weeks, but not too strong. Just recently I have felt her pretty often and pretty strongly. Its getting stronger too!
  • flutters that I wasn't sure were baby at 14 or 15. Definite kicks at 16, but I still don't feel it regularly. Maybe every other day or so. Must depend on the position the baby is in.

  • I'm still waiting to feel our little guy's movement.  I feel a lot of weird things, but none of them feel like 'flutters'.

Ditto. I was sure what I felt this past week. It's so exciting!

  • I started to feel little kicks at 16 weeks but nothing consistant. This past week has been very noticable and consistant.
  • I first started feeling flutters around 16 weeks. ?At around 20 weeks I started feeling full fledged kicks.
  • I felt "flutters" here and there at about 15-16 weeks, but kicks (not really hard ones yet) at about 20-21 weeks.  I hear that with your first you don't feel them until 19-22 weeks.  Also, I have an anterior placenta so it makes it harder to feel until later on when the baby is bigger.
  • I felt flutters starting in  week 17. I'm almost 19 weeks now and feel them more regularly, but I wouldn't say I feel "kicks" yet.

  • 13 weeks?? what crazy website said that? my books say around 16-20 weeks. i'll be 20 weeks tomorrow, but nothing yet! hopefully it'll be any day now!
  • ill be 21 weeks tmrw, and i havent felt anything. a few times i "thought" i did.. but i cant be sure at all.. and it hasnt happened since. i am on the heavy side, so i am guessing that is why... cant wait tho! ;)
  • I've felt something that feels like tingles or Pop Rocks exploding in my lower abdomen (between navel and pelvis) which I think is movement but I'm not 100% sure.  The first time I felt this was last Friday (16w1d) and then nothing until yesterday. It's very sporadic.

  • 17 weeks for me.
  • flutters twice at 18 weeks, then nothing, then at 22 1/2 weeks i felt definte kicks and movement. I will also add that I have an anterior placenta and some of her movements are muted.
  • Right around 16-17 weeks.. just itty bitty pokes.  But within a couple weeks, its full on right hooks.  Love it!

  • I felt quickening or lightening at 15 weeks and just in the past few days I have felt some little taps.
  • Flutters sometime between 16-17 weeks.  I still can't say that I've really felt any kicks yet though.

  • I swear I felt something last week (14 weeks) while sitting down and relaxing. Felt like when you turn a bottle of water upside down and bubbles rise to the other side. Felt like a little row of bubbles. I know that's early though and this is my first baby so maybe it was just gas. But it did feel weird enough that I went, "Oh! What was that?"

I've been feeling small little things this weekend, off and on.... don't know if it's the baby or just my gurgly stomach!

I can't wait to feel kicks for real!!!!

  • I'm pretty sure I felt my first flutter today (15 wks). It felt like something was shifting in my uterus - not like gas (I've had enough of that lately, I would recognize it!). It's hard to describe it, and so far I've only felt it once.
