Success after IF

When/how did you decide to move baby from bassinet to crib?

I wouldn't say Cal's too big for his bassinet but he has become such an active sleeper that I caught him banging his head against the side of it this morning!  I wonder if it's time for something with a little more room?

  • Once he stopped waking every 3 hrs.  We just knew he would sleep better in a nice big quiet crib... and he did!

  • That's exactly why we moved our DS to his crib at night - around 6 weeks he started moving his legs around in his sleep and would knock into the side of the bassinet. He did just fine with the transition.
  • for us it was about when i was going back to work- i wanted to do the transition before i was back working so i wouldn't lose more sleep if i did it later.... so it was around 3.5mos when we moved him.

  • We did it about a week ago.  I was getting concerned she was too heavy for the PNP bassinet, plus she was also turning herself sideways.  We waited  mostly because of laziness.  It was just easier to have her in our room.
  • Honestly, we did it when he was 3w old. He never slept well in his bassinet, and it kept ALL of us awake. We moved him to his room and his crib at that point and he started sleeping really well right off the bat with maybe 2-3 wake-ups a night.

I would guess if he's outgrowing it size-wise, it's time to move up.

  • We knew it was time when he was waking up constantly because he likes to stretch out and when he did, he would hit the sides or top/bottom of the bassinet and wake up.  He has definitely slept better being in his crib :)

  • We just decided that it would be a better routine for him to be in his own room so we switched at 2 months.  DS actually too to it right away.  A few nights we had to go in and comfort him when he would cry, but then he would fall back asleep and we put him down again.  I just stick with the same bedtime routine every night at the same time and I think that is what really does it.
