High-Risk Pregnancy

Anyone else have a transabdominal cerclage on here?

Just thougth I'd ask!  I visit abbyloopers too of course, but wouldn't mind connecting with others that have cervical issues on here too.  It helps ease some of the anxiety in pg for me!  Hope you're all well!

Re: Anyone else have a transabdominal cerclage on here?

  • Hello!  I had my TAC put in pre-pg (thank you Abbyloopers and Dr. Haney).  So far I like it.  I never had a TVC.  I had 2 fairly early losses at 15 and 17w and there was doubt as to whether or not a TVC could be done early enough for me.  My measurements have been very stable so far (I'm 19w) and I hope they stay that way.  Plus no need for bedrest yet and I'm hoping that stays that way too.  I liked getting it done pre-pg.  No worry about surgery with the baby.
  • how long was the recovery time after the tac? i can tell you after being on bedrest for 16 weeks, the recovery of a c-section sucked.

  • I was walking the next day albeit a little hunched over.  I would say within 2 to 3 weeks I was back to myself.
  • I have a TAC thanks to abbyloopers and Dr. Haney.  He is a wonderful Doc.  I had my TAC at 11 wks. I was back to work 2 weeks later.  Although I got the flu and dehydrated and ended up in the hospital for a day.  I now am 22 weeks. my cervix is 3.7.  I am not on bed rest.  I did ask last appt when they thought they would sch. the C/S and they said 37-38 weeks after an amnio.  Good luck

  • ME!

My TAC was placed by Dr. Brown at Duke in 11/07, when I was pregnant with my second set of twins (I lost my 1st set at 20w due to IC). The TAC allowed me to carry them until 34 weeks, and 5 1/2 lbs each, when I went into labor.  Now with this surprise singleton, my doctors all refer to my stitch as the "stitch of steel"- my cervix has been 4 cm throughout... until about 36 weeks, when it shortened but is still holding this little guy in!  I'll be having him on Friday if all goes according to plan.

I am a HUGE fan of the TAC procedure- getting it was the best decision I made.

  • Oh so good there's a few of us!  Yay!  I'm a Dr. Haney patient too!  He's a popular man!
