Anyone have a makeup makeover at Sephora? Have you found them useful and liked the results? I'm looking for new makeup and would like someone who is experienced to do my makeup and recommend products so I was thinking of heading to Sephora. I figure they have all the big brands like Laura Mercier, Nars, etc.
Re: NBR: makeover at Sephora, anyone have this done?
I had it done on 2 occasions because the first time was AWFUL and the second time was no better. The girls used so much makeup on me it literally took nearly a half hour to clean it all off when I got home.I felt like they didn't know anything about the products, and just applied layer after layer to achieve some kind of over-dramatic, artistic look as opposed to just simple, nice makeup application.
I'd recommend going to a department store counter of whatever specific brand you're interested in, and have one of those reps do the makeover instead. I feel like those girls/guys know more about the products they're selling, and can give you more of their attention than the folks at Sephora.
That's what I was wondering as well (about going to a specific counter)
I think it also has to do with the fact that the reps at Sephora are usually just part-timers, and not really in it as a career, ya know? All the folks I've ever met who work at department store counters are hired by the brand, not by the store, so they're more experienced and more dedicated to what they're doing.
