about the epi post...

so if it's hard or impossible to walk after the epi, does that mean we have to use a bed pan? ?I really hate those things. And I assume that after labor we will have to use one?

    Yes you can and when you start pushing they remove it.

    After you give birth the nurse will try and make you walk.  You will need to pee with in 4 hours after giving birth.  If you can't pee with in that amount of time they will re-insert the catheter to empty your bladder.

    so how painful is this?catheter? ?LOL ?and I really don't want to pee or poo during labor lol, but at least my hubby doesn't want to look below my waist so that will save some embarrassment! ?hehe :)

    You shouldn't feel it. It's used while you are still too numb to walk and go on your own.

    A lot of women will get straight cathed during labor.  The difference with this is the catheter is not always in place, just inserted to drain your bladder and then removed.  They will do this if you have not gone in a while or you noticably become distended.

    you won't feel it going in or out - even if you don't have an epi, the pain of labor will likely mask any pain from the cath :)

    i didn't even know i had one... i just slept all day and didn't think twice as to why i never had to get up to pee, duh :)
