Hi ladies,
Well I'm pretty sure I'm on for IUI #2 with injectables (gonal-F). I'm 14dpIUI #1 today and BFN + major temp nosedive.
Just curious if there's a higher success rate with injectables vs. clomid or something else?
The clomid thinned my lining so the RE doesn't want me on it anymore. I knew my chances were less because of that, but I was still hopeful.
This sucks!
Re: IUI question - do injectables increase chances?
I'm sure someone has a % on here, but I do know the success is higher on injectables rather than clomid since the injectables work directly on the ovaries.
Just curious...how thin was your lining?
yes, it does increase your chances because usually you will produce more follies on injectables.
Good Luck!

I don't know my lining the day of the IUI, but on CD12 it was only 3.8. I was concerned about it but the RE said basically that it still had time to grow, and although my chances may decrease, they wouldn't go through with the IUI if I had NO chance, so we just went for it and prayed! I drank pom juice and ate some red meat and hoped for the best.
But oh well.
We do have insurance coverage, if I was paying OOP I'd be ticked about wasting $ on that IUI. Hopefully the second one will be the charm!
was IUI#2 with clomid + inj or just inj only?? 3.8 seems really thin for your lining. when my lining was 7 on a natural cycle my doctor said that was thin and that next cycle she would put me on clomid and an estrogen patch to make sure my lining wasn't too thin. i ended up using femara instead of clomid so i didn't need the patch...and my lining has been 12.5 and 13 for my first two medicated cycles.
to answer your original question, yes, injectibles do increase your chances with IUI b/c you'll end up w/more mature follies (=more targets for the sperm) than you would with just oral meds. it may still take up to 3 tries to get a BFP though.
