26 mo is refusing naps... is this a phase?

And it only just started to happen last week.  She used to go to sleep around 1:00 and get up around 3:00, but not anymore.

She will take one at dc on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but will just throw fit after fit if I try to get her to take one when we are at home.  She doesn't yawn or act tired when she doesn't have one; in fact, she is more energetic and active when she doesn't.

I never had this problem with C.  Could this be a phase or is she *gasp* trying to get rid of them this early?

Re: 26 mo is refusing naps... is this a phase?

  • My DD started that around 24 months.  She is 33 months now and naps 2 times a week on average, and only if she gets up after 11 hours of sleep instead of 12 or more. I still put her in her room for quiet time most days.

  • DS is 27 months and gave up his nap last month.  I can get him to lay down for about 45 minutes once or twice a week if I'm lucky.  But, he sleeps better at night if he doesn't nap so I almost rather he just stay awake.
  • DD1 started this a few weeks ago too.  Some days she goes without, but most days I can get at least an hour of quiet out of her.
  • no advice...mine just started to do the same thing. Sad

  • Thanks ladies!  At least I know I am not alone.  The kind of cool thing about it is that I can get a lot more done now because I am not tip toeing around trying to be quiet while she is napping.  Now I can do the dishes, laundry, get out in the yard and do something.

    Got to be positive, right?
