3D ultrasound ladies - come in

I'm curious, was this ultrasound with a doc or something you paid for? I have to go and see the perinatologist next week and I am wondering if they might have one of these 3D machines - the photos are so much better than the "old fashioned" one my doc has! LOL.

Re: 3D ultrasound ladies - come in

  • Most people here have paid out of pocket at some sort of facility, not at their doctors.

Unless they are high risk, then they are more likely given a 3D/4D ultrasound.  Since you are going to a perinatologist, I would think there's a good possibility of you getting one.

  • I'm lucky that my doctor has an ultrasound machine in her office, so I get them pretty regularly.  The only one I had to pay for was the down syndrome screening one.. the others have been covered.  Call ahead and ask!

  • For me, this was just a part of my 20wk ultrasound - I did not have to pay extra for it

    Ditto this.

  • My OB does 3d and 4d ultrasounds. At our NT the tech wanted to see more of the baby's face so she turned on 3d. We haven't been charged extra.
  • At my doctors office they do the big u/s in 2D but they'll get pics of the face in 3D for you. They were free but now you just pay $10 for a handful of pics. I don't have to pay though because my FIs mom works there so I get as many pics and 3D u/s as I want! I was blessed!

  • The ultrasound tech at the doctors office always turns on the 3D for me.  She is awesome!  Insurance pays so what the heck!  I'm not even high risk.
  • I just went to a perinatoligist a couple of weeks ago and their machine actually did both. I think most perinatologists will have the best of the best equipment since that is their specialty.
  • I have mind scheduled for tomorrow! I will be paying for mine ($110)...

Alot of doctors don't do them unless it's medically necessary. They're considered to be done mostly for pleasure only.

I had one done with my son... and it was one of the most amazing experiences we've had. It was wonderful! So I'm ecstatic for tomorrow =)

  • I had to pay for it. I went somewhere other than my Dr's office - they offer it but you still have to pay and their packages are outrageously priced!
  • We paid for a package. It was $200 for a series of 3 3-d u/s. We had one at 17 weeks, we go again at 27 weeks and then will have a final at 32 weeks. It was well worth the money.

  • We got 4D pics at our 20 week ultrasound.  Our doctor's office has the capability to do this.  We did not pay extra or even ask, they just did it.

  • I'm paying for mine, $154.  My doc's equipment is way old school - like my Mother's era.
