I Need Your Opinion - Initials

I'm probably overanalyzing this, but do you guys think a kid with the initials EEW would get made fun of - like, "Eeew, its ____" ?  Thanks!

Re: I Need Your Opinion - Initials

  • I doubt it. But kids can find something to make fun when they want to, things you can't guess in advance. I wouldn't NOT use a name I loved based on those initials.

  • I hate to say but i could be possiable....!
  • actually thats a good possibility. kids are cruel.
  • No, I think your safe! You want to stay away from initials like ***, ASS, BUT, GOD, ect.:)

  • My maiden name can have a very rude meaning and no one picked up on it until I was at least 20 so I doubt anyone will pick up on those initials.
  • I doubt it.  Where in Baltimore are you from?  I grew up in Columbia.

"You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
  • my last name starts with W so I made it a point not to come up with any names that start with E to avoid having EW as initials. I work with a lady whose initials are EW and I always think "eww" when I see it written.. there's so much you have to initial off on these days.

  • My initials are JRK (were, and still are now that I'm married)....and no one was SUPER mean, but everyone would always turn it into "jerk"...
  • Also, I don't remember knowing anyone's full name and/or initials when I was little or them knowing mine. It never would have occurred to me to learn someone's middle and last name and then come up with jokes based on the initials. Am I alone?

I was going to say the same thing... I work at a school, and I don't think any of the kids I work with even know each other's middle names... I wouldn't worry about this when choosing a name.

No, I don't think we did this, either. I don't ever remember discussing middle names with kids- esp. in middle or HS.

Yes, kids think that type of thing is hilarious....except for the kid with the initials EEW :(

Oh and I also work at a school and I don't even know most of my students middle names without looking at the roster.

  • Thanks for your opinions, ladies!  You've been a big help - we've had the hardest time figuring out a name for this little girl, and I think you've made me feel better about what I think we'll go with.

Thanks!  I kind of thought the same thing about never knowing any other kids' initials when I was little either.  Makes me feel better about not scarring the poor girl for life (at least not b/c of her name).

  • I didn't think about initials when it came to picking out a name. Nobody really goes and says "My name is first middle last" so the middle name will barely even be talked about in conversation. I think your kinda overanalyzing but that is just me and a lot of other people will agree with you. I guess because my initials are ET and I was never picked on that I don't really think about it. I go by Beth now anyways so it doesn't matter.
  • They might get made fun of for that, yeah.
