are you going to pump at work? what if there isnt anywhere to pump at work? you just going to stop BFing? I need advice!
I am only taking 3 months leave then going back to work part time and i want to BF as long as possible but I have nowhere to pump at work.. whats a mom to do?
Re: for those BFing and taking a short leave...
I'm eager to read the answers to this because I will be going back to school in August after having baby in June and I won't be able to pump at school obviously! lol
by the way.. I love you siggy pic with the pic shirt! Thats such a cute outfit and your bump is adorable!
I only plan on taking 6 weeks, hopefully less (I know, I know, it may not be possible). I plan on pumping in my office with the door shut.
I hear a lot of women with no where other than the bathroom to pump will pump in their cars, a conference room, an empty office, etc.
Check with your state laws. Many states have laws that require your workplace to provide not only a private place to pump (typically cannot be a bathroom stall) and a fridge to store milk. A good place to start is your HR department.
(BTW, I wouldn't call a 3-month leave short!)
thank you! I cant wait to see the answers either, i work at starbucks and there is only one womens restroom so not like i can sit in there and pump while customers are waiting to use it haha
Great photos by the way. Can you talk to a boss/supervisor? Maybe they will accomodate for you for awhile.
sorry, i know its not short compared to some .. but for me its short because i want to be home with my son longer!

I think they have to, actually, even if it's just an empty office you can lock yourself into for 10-15 minutes.
I would be surprised if they didn't have some sort of accomodation. You do get breaks, you may be able to on your breaks.
Every girl who's taken maternity leave at my work has been gone at least 6 months (4 girls in the last 2 years). Combining Maternity Leave with FMLA, vacations and other time off, it works out to be quite a bit for some.
Not to but in here, but don't they have a back office where you do the deposit or something? I would imagine if they did, you could go in there.
the back office is connected with the main floor only separated by a wall. no door. fully open to all employees. =/ And we only get 10 mins for break and no longer.
Honestly this is what I would do, but I was pretty hardcore and if my pumping made people feel uncomfortable that was their problem...
Set up a corner in the backroom, maybe put up a screen like partition and pump there. Get a hooter hider type cover and just pump. Yes people may be able to hear you or peek their head in, but everybody you work with will know what's up and will leave you alone.
or
Get and car lighter adapter and pump in the car, again with a cover.
I was in a busy office with a screen partition. People just knew to leave me alone. They could talk to me if they wanted, it didn't make me feel uncomfortable, just them when they figured it out.

Why not use your car? I keep reading about BF in the car. They sell lots of covers that should work for pumping, too, and if you can park in a relatively secluded area then you should be all set. Unless you take public transportation to work, then I guess it wouldn't.
Otherwise, can you try and build up your stash before you return to work? I really have no idea what I'm talking about here or how hard that would be because I've never done it, but it might be something to look in to. Maybe it would allow you to only have to pump once a day instead of three times.
