*Sigh* Overwhelmed

So, we found this amazing huge beautiful condo in foreclosure for 100k less than they were asking for the new ones in the bldg, which is awesome because we could never afford them at full price, and while I am feeling much less stressed that we know we have somewhere to put the baby and don't have to stick her in the closet (JOKE) I now feel completely overwhelmed with the idea of planning a nursery and new home. I am so grateful that we found this and all but I have never been one to shop or enjoy decorating and such. I can barely match my own clothes. I feel bad like I should be so excited to plan a nursery and all... but I just can't get there. My best friend and mom are like oh it will be so exciting don't you wanna go looking at stuff... and I am like.... uhhhh no not really.

Re: *Sigh* Overwhelmed

  • Don't stress about it too much.  I'm pretty much in the same boat-I dread buying the nursery stuff and trying to decorate.  I've gotten a bit better over the years, but I'm not a very good planner (buy something in one color and decide I want to paint another) or very good at matching, etc.  I think I'm going to recruit some help.

  • If your friends and mom are excited about it, put em to work!  Yuo can admit your weak spots and they are here to help!  Ask em for advice and have them come over and get some ideas and then help you find some stuff that makes it look cute...

Just make sure you like their taste in decor...

  • NOt to be a downer, but you should be greatful you could and did buy a place. Many people (like the ones who had your place) are losing their homes/jobs and don't have money to buy new stuff for a new house and nursery. Count your blessings and maybe get one of your friends or family members to help you with the stuff that you don't like to do as much

did you see where i said I AM GRATEFUL!? why feel the need to do this?

AND I do know how it is... we live in my parents house...we struggle, just like a lot of people and the only reason we could afford this is because it is in foreclosure. so before you go trying to put me down maybe you should think about things like that.

  • Don't let the nursery become a stress. It'll all work itself out. Like pp said get your friend and mother in on it. They may help get your excitement level up and show you new ideas that you didn't think of before. Just be sure to remind them at the beginning that you have all final say as far as what goes into the room. Also remember that the nursery of your dreams is put together with items that you love.
  • OH Congrats on the house by the way!!
  • My Mom is just like you - she found a decorator that was really cheap.  I would look into that or tell your Mom and Best Friend they could do it for you since they know your tastes (like it could be a gift to you).
