Does your DC do anything fabulous?

What about your daycare to do you love? Do they have any special things for the parents?  Do they give you updates via email?  Or letters?  Tonight my DC is having a book fair but I didn't even know about it until today.  Ugh.  I am just trying to come up with ideas for my daycare.  Thanks!!

  • They occasionally give me pictures. For example, at Halloween they gave me a picture of DD in a pumpkin-shaped frame that says "Little Pumpkin". I still have it on my desk.

They also sometimes do "Parents night out" where for $15 they'll watch your DC for a few hours on a Friday night. I haven't taken advantage of that yet but it's nice that they offer it on occasion.

  • They put out a newsletter every month about upcoming events, so we generally know about them.  They also put little suggestions in it of age-appropriate games to play with baby.  It's cute.

  • LOL - I originally read your title as "Does your Dear Child do anything Fabulous?" and I thought - everything he does is FABULOUS!!!!

His daycare - they love him to pieces which is imporant - they do a bunch of arts and crafts, some field trips - we went to the pumpkin farm twice.  The director e-mails reminders all the time of things (mostly tuition) but any other special events.  I think the e-mail is great because I know my mind is scattered.  They also put reminders on his daily report card of things coming up.

Haha, I thought the same thing (about the title) at first too! My daycare also does the arts & crafts, and I love it. I have a little turkey with feathers on it that DD "made" me for Thanksgiving, and a heart with her footprints in red paint that she "made" me for Valentine's Day. We've also had a couple "Wear your Sports Team" outfit days and "Pajama days" which are fun.

  • I thought the same thing!! Haha..I love our DC and DD does all these arts and crafts which they laminate for us. They also take photos of her and for valentines day they made me a little flip chart of all her photos. It was super cute.

They have a lot of activities for the babies and occasionally they'll have dress up days ie wear red day for valentines, dress up for halloween, PJ days.

We also receive monthly news letters on what she's been up to and every few months they invite the parents in to do activities with their kids...I was going to go but I had a meeting that was rescheduled so I couldnt make it.

  • Sorry about the title mix up!  HA!

  • We've only been going to our center for about a month but they've already done many things that I've really appreciated - my toddler does tons of art projects that she brings home, they made us gifts at their Valentine's Day party (even the babies made a handprint thing), they've had a parent breakfast, have monthly newsletters (I just saw that they're starting e-mail updates soon), pajama day, the teachers have sent me pictures on my cell phone during the day (not a regular thing, just our first week because they knew how nervous I was), they have a Parents Night Out next month, they had someone come in and do a music class for the toddlers, they had us bring in family pictures so they can do a wall thing with all the kids families, they're doing a big fundraising drive for March of Dimes with all sorts of creative activies which I think is great.

  • I love the title - as you can tell - I am little proud of my Billy.

    I thought the same thing!

  • I get pictures emailed to me every so often, a few times a month typically.  Depending on the teacher, I sometimes get pics sent to my phone that the teacher takes with her phone (when she doesn't have the center camera with her).  Some of the rooms send out weekly emails letting us know what is going on in the room - special events, the weekly theme, etc.  Some of the teachers call me  to let me know certain things or ask questions - if my kids had a rough morning and I mentioned that at drop off, they will call and tell me how my child is doing.  Some of the stuff depends on the teacher vs being a center standard.  We gbet monthly newsletters passed out that list the months events.

  • Everything my child does is fabulous! ;-)

My daycare is pretty great too. Even in the baby room, they do crafts! This blew me away at first. They have a theme every week, for example, this week is Black History, other recent ones have been presidents, love (for valentines), winter sports, winter weather, shadows (for groundhog day), etc. So they read books on the theme to the babies, and do projects. Of course they can't do much themselves, but often they include handprints or footprints, and lots of times their pictures. They did silhouettes for the shadow week, and valentines for love week, for example. They take lots of pictures and give them to me here and there.

Every Friday they give you a little newsletter. Mostly it talks about the theme they did and announce upcoming ones. Introduces new kids or goodbyes to those transitioning to the next age room. Discusses illnesses going around. They have email so I can check on him if I want to (like today because he wasn't feeling so great yesterday). And they'll email or call me with questions. Very open communication. They encourage parents to call or email. Very happy with them!

  • Cameras! I can watch DS online.

Also, Little Man "made" me a Valentine with his hand print and it was wrapped up all pretty. I made my heart melt.

  • I love, love, love my daycare. They host date nights where they open up on Saturday evenings and take the little ones for 2-3 hours so mom and dad can have a date. They offer dinner once a week where all proceeds go to a local charity, we get art work every month (even when she was too small to know the difference) and they had a birthday party for her. They have all kinds of other special events and offers like the music lady coming in a couple times a month and she sings to the kids and they offer signing classes and so on.

    Hi Tbc!
My Daycare also did the exact same thing as far as the Little Pumpkin frame. :)
Maybe our kids go to the same DC. LOL!
My DS goes to LaPetite. Where does your DD go?

  • My daycare does all the crafts(even in the baby room) and provides everything which I have found is not always the case.  And we have cameras...I love that!
