Anyone's baby allergic to milk?

I just found out today that my baby girl is allergic to milk. The Dr. said babies will usually outgrow it between 6-12 months but until then I have to cut out all dairy Crying I know giving her breastmilk is best but the selfish part of me is really upset I have to give up all of my favorite foods. What am I going to eat?? I eat some form of dairy in almost every meal. Anyone else have to give up all dairy??

Re: Anyone's baby allergic to milk?

  • My baby was. We started seeing small spots of blood in his stool. I went off of dairy when he was 3mo for about 6wk which was not easy. We were told by the GI specialist that I could try milk again when he turned 6 mo to see if it had cleared up. I dropped a lot of weight and my husband and I got concerned so we asked the ped if we could try it and see what happened. she agreed, let me eat dairy for 3 weeks and then I had to collect a stool sample to get tested. Luckily there was no blood so I got to stay on dairy. Its a hard diet but its so worth it. just an fyi, there's no dairy in oreos!

  • We found out DD was allergic to Milk when she was about 2 mos old. I gave up all dairy... don't eat anything containing casein, whey or any ingredient derived from milk! Don't get me wrong... it is HARD, but after about a week of this DD was a completely different baby!! She was eating better, sleeping better, and just happier all around. To me this makes it all worth it!

I have been dairy free for 5 months now.  After month 2 it started to get so much easier and now I am completely used to it. I have lost a TON of weight (I went from a size 12 to a size 6!!) and I actually feel more energetic and healthy!
