Do I have to sew to be in the group? Can I buy material and/or batting and participate that way? I can get lost in the fabric store for hours looking at fabric!!!!

You can participate like that. We can all do different things.

I've been slacking putting progress pics of the purple quilt up. So sorry everyone...
I will be attaching the back this weekend, and I PROMISE pics will be will be up soon.
::dies of embarassment::
Woops, I should've refreshed one more time before I posted about the purple. :-) The green one took me what felt like forever, so I know how you feel.
My DH is starting to get annoyed because my sewing machine is on the kitchen table as is the front portion of the quilt and the back. He wants it done as much as we do! It's coming out very nice if I do say so myself though

My big work surface is the pool table in the front room of our house. So its covered in fabric and scraps anytime I'm working on a project. DH is always asking, what are you working on, expecting it to be something different, but usually its the same dam thing! :-)
Yes Mtendre (spelling?) was the other BFP I think! `
Can any of you reccomend a few good quilting books or websites? I would love to make my own square, but I have no idea where to start or even how to sew. TIA

There are a lot of resources on line. Really, it is as simple as sewing some fabric together. Try sewing some strips of fabric together and then cutting it down to a 6.5 x 6.5 inch square. It is a great way to start and get comfortable with quilting.

Here are some sites that I love to look at. Some have tutorials, some just show examples of quilts these ladies have made. Otherwise if you just do a google for "quilting tutorials" you will be looking at pages for days. HTH!
From those pages if you look at their blog lists there are TONS of other quilting people. These are 3 that I look at almost every day. :-)
Otherwise if you can sew a straight line, you can make a square. You'll see on these sites that they do a lot of piece together...sew scraps and scraps together until you have a big enough piece to cut out a big square. Its pretty easy. GL!
Re: GP Quilters Vote
moo - i loves you, that's not a suggestion, just the truth!
i do have 2 questions though, how many members do we have now and are there any new bfps?
we have 30 members, although not everyone participates every quilt.
I asked for new BFP's last week. Still waiting for people to chime up and request a quilt.
TTC #1 - May 2010 - IUI #3: BFP
TTC #2 - May 2012 -IUI #2: BFP
That's me. I'm probably being overly cautious, but I'm still nervous, even though the doctor isn't concerned at all.
But if green/nature wins out, I'll definitely claim that one, since that's probably how we'll do the nursery.
that's good, hopefully she'll be claiming one soon!

I'd want to know as well on how to make a square.

Thank you MrsCarroll and Moo,
I think I may make a trip to the fabric store this weekend and pick up some scraps to play with.
And MrsCarroll...I will be sending out that fabric to you tomorrow via UPS. I will email the tracking number to the GPquilters email.
