I've been looking at cafepress.com thinking of maybe surprising people with a shirt.
I've come across all the IVF baby shirts. The ones for the baby.
I showed a friend of mine "IVF miracle baby" shirt. And I would love to buy one of these for my little growing apple seed eventually.
Well my friend seemed to think it was terrible idea. Her exact words were "Well what if you're kid is in kindergarden and someone comes across a baby picture of him/her wearing that shirt and they don't want anyone to know??"
HUH? I got a bit offended. As I am not the bit embarressed we did IVF. I even like the ones with the pictures of the embryos that say "My first baby pic".
Am I nuts? Would you guys not put these shirts on your babies? Because I would.

Nope, you're not nuts! I've looked at all those same shirts on cafepress.com too. There's a coffee mug on there I'd like too: I kicked infertility's stupid @ss.
I bought one on ebay that says "Miracle of Modern Science"
I probably wouldn't put one that says "Test Tube Baby" on my child because that's stupid and innacurate (I've seen those too).
I'm not ashamed of how we got our last baby in the slightest so I don't see a thing wrong with it.
I also put t-shirts on my 4 year old that say "I have a special heart" and "I love my pacemaker" and "CHD survivor" too..... like pp said "Wear to make aware"!!
I don't think you're crazy, it is great that you are that open!
We have talked about this issue since we're starting to tell ppl we are having twins & I'm anticipating all the questions, and we have decided that we will be honest if people ask directly (and not in stupid round about ways), but we're not really out to broadcast it b/c it is none of anyone's business anyway, regardless of whether I want to enhance awareness or be open about it. A hesitation that I would have if my baby wore shirts like that in public would be that tons of strangers will come up & ask questions & potentially be rude, etc, so just to maybe be prepared for that? But for around friends/family it wouldn't be a big deal, for me.
I got a onesie that says "made in a lab" I think its adorable. I also made a pregnancy scrapbook written to baby about everything from IVF to u/s pics and belly pics. It is nothing to be embarassed about (my DH was at first due to our issues are MFI but he came around) I also love one i saw that said "ICSI PIXIE" (you wouldn't know what it meant unless you are aware of IF)
Anyway, I would have been offended too.
E has a big that says IVF Miracle baby and I put it on him all the time, and people often ask questions. I am ALL ABOUT educating them!
He also has a priceless tshirt (egg aspiration= 8600, etc, with the final line Finally having a baby =priceless, and he wears it all the time!
