Can I take Vitamin C??

I feel a sore throat coming on and my DH and DD just got over an awful stuffy nose cold.  I don't want it and wondered if its ok to take Vit C to up my immune system. 

I read on kellymom it will go into my milk, but will it affect her negatively in any way??

    a lactation consultant told me EmergenC and airborne are perfectly fine!  but some girls on this board said they were told not to....so im not sure
