is it bad luck???????

ok so i am 5 months and i was told today that it is bad luck to set up yor baby's nursery befor your 7 months and i already have my crib up its the only thing we have but is it susposed to be bad luck?????

Never heard that. Some cultures don't allow any baby items in the home before baby is there, but never heard anything like that. Sounds like somebody was a busybody and just had to get his/her 2 cents in.

Never heard such a thing. Set it up and do as much as you can while you feel good enough to do it. At 7 months, doing all that work will be exhausting.

Um, leaving the whole nursery set up for the last 2 months sounds really tough to me-especially if you are planning on working until later in pregnancy. (And I would think it would be really hard not to set it up if you're not working!) But then again, I'm not very superstitous (I know I spelled that wrong).

I think that's ridiculous and arbitrary. I've never heard anything like that before.

Jewish families believe you shouldn't set anything up until after the baby's born -- but that's completely different (and makes a lot more sense thanl waiting until some arbitrary point like 7 months).

That's ridiculous. What's wrong with preparing yourself? DH and I just LOOKED at strollers when I was about 9 or 10 weeks and I got crap from a friend saying it's "too early". It's not like we were buying the thing, just looking!

If you're ready to set up your nursery now, go for it!

I haven't heard that its bad luck- its good to enjoy yourself and "nest".

That being said, I've been resistant to putting in the order for our bassinet (even though I've chosen one)- right now I'm not planning to until at least week 28. I suppose its because I think its bad luck. I'm sure I'd feel differently if we hadn't lost one over the summer at 7 weeks. I want to be like you and the other ladies and set things up now but I just can't help it. I have bought some outfits for her though so I'm not totally crazy!
