Last night when I was up with my sick baby I had some time to brainstorm. Why don't we come up w/ a FAQ list about cding, like a troubleshooting thread (or 2 even) where we list out ALL the stuff we can think about and then when people ask we can direct them to that thread.
I was thinking we might want to have one basic thread (getting started, what you need, what you shouldn't use and the different types of diapers) & one troubleshooting thread (stink issues, rash, yeast, hard water, staining & such).
What does everyone think? Would this be helpful? I think it helped with the babywearing questions to have the pictures and decriptions.

Nope...we would just direct them to that thread and tell them that if they still had questions we were here to help. If anything I think it will be friendlier to have a place for them to go...one stop shopping.

I think that's a great idea - thank you so much! I have so many CD related posts bookmarked, just waiting for me to begin making purchases.
Another idea/question I had is also for the mama's on the board. Would you all mind posting pics of how you organize and store your stash? I know for me personally it would be so helpful to see a CD changing area, since I have no idea how to begin organizing (when the time comes). Pretty please???
Good idea! Ladies, PIP here please so I can include that in the thread.
ummm... I could PIP, but it would be more of a "how not to do it" lol... oy- so disorganized right now

Me too...I'm using this as a chance to reorganize.
I had that thought too. I like when I see a newbie ask questions that they get so many responses. It is very friendly and welcoming. I thought just posting "This explains it all *link*", might be a little impersonal
BUT!!! I think that it would be really helpful too. As a new CDer it would have been great to have a resource that really explained things well.
So I thought that maybe if I saw those posts asking about CDs, as well as offering the collective information link, I could offer my preferences... thus still being friendly and informative, lol.
Just a way over thought, thought....
Yep, that's me.
I think it's a great idea. I just started CDing, and I came here first for help. I got the "summerly sent me school me" post in the responses, and it was a great help, not at all impersonal. In fact, I kinda liked it better because I feel bad if people take the time to write out all those details and then they have to do it over.and.over.and.over.again. I think an encouraging word or two and a link to a thread would be great! It's been great how helpful everyone here has been!
As a newbie, I'd also say I'd love to have a thread with etsy/hyena cart recommendations. Both those sites are way too overwhelming if you don't know where to start!
My silly Lily is almost 4.
Thanks! It's not like we even have nursery furniture yet...or CDs (or a gender for that matter!) but I still feel the need to organize in my mind!
I will likely do both. But the old posts do not go away..unless they change formats again.
that would rock!
I definitely think that links to MrsDonkey's blog on her CDing experiences would help educate the masses. I had started my research, but was so overwhelmed that when she did that it sealed the deal for me. I was already a follower of her blog, but it's a great reference/starting point.
And a list of all the abbrevations would be nice. I've caught on, but it was intimidated early on in my lurking for information. I'm still at a loss for what NIP means...
Ditto to both points, but especially the abbreviations (there was a post a couple of days ago). And ditto to pp that the "summerly sent me" post was a helpful start.
I'd add that it would be super helpful to have information on wool use/care, prepping, and stripping (I still haven't figured out what that is). DIY patterns, materials/purchasing, and tips would probably be helpful, since that gets asked a frequently.
I don't mean to AW, but I've been collecting a bunch of info on my bio. It's not the end-all-be-all, but it might help you from starting from scratch. The photos aren't loading right now, but I was going to fix this weekend.
Keep the ideas coming...but I can now see that this is bigger then I thought so it won't be done this weekend. And I doubt it will ever be totally done because I see us adding to it a lot!
