Holding backs tears in office

So I took yesterday off because of the lack of sleep I was getting all week.  Well aparently the pregnant lady shouldnt take time off.  My direct supervisor was not friendly to me this morning (like walking by and not even saying hello) and another co-worker reminding me that I probably dont have that much time to cover the full 12 weeks leave and I will have to cut a check to cover my insurance.  I understand she was just telling me but I want to yell "I was extrememly tired and needed a day to rest" But instead I am in my office hoding back tears.

  • Don't worry about them - when you need rest, you need rest!

  • did you tell them why you took off?  If you are allowed sick days - there is no reason why they should treat you badly for taking what is allowed to you..... unless you just said "i'm really tired and can't come in" - then i could understand them being annoyed.... I would just say you are sick.

You don't even know what tired is yet... just wait until you are in your 3rd tri - it's VERY hard to sleep and your body is worn out from carrying that belly around all day.... so you'll need to figure a way to make it through the days at work.

  • I'm so sorry.  They evidently don't understand what it's like to be pregnant and have to not only worry about yourself.. but another person as well.  You needed rest not only for you but for the baby too.  I would tell the co-worker to mind her own business.. you'll figure that out when the time is here.  Don't cry!  I'm praying your day gets SO much better.
  • Everyone needs a mental health day once in a while.  Forget them...they were just jealous that they weren't home sleeping!

  • ignore them and do whats best for you. ?its none of thier business
  • I know how you feel.  My bosses hate kids in general and I never got a "congratulations" when I told them I was pregnant.  I hate taking days off but sometimes you just have to.  Be proud of yourself for listening to your body.  Maybe practice a little "sick" routine when you do call off because they're not going to understand why you're exhausted.  Shoot, if our DHs can't understand why we're too tired to do housework (and they live with us), then our bosses certainly aren't gong to understand why either.  As for those tears, geez I'm right there with you.  I feel like I cry every day for some reason or another and it's not because I want to.  These hormones just make us crazy sensitive and unfortunately it just leaves you feeling, well, crazy.  When I'm at work and need to cry, I just excuse myself to go to the restroom and do it in private.  Anyway, I wish you the best and am sending hugs your way.  Hope your week gets better.
