I had an interesting conversation with a coworker today about baby gear. She was saying that there were a few things that she registered for (and got) that she rarely ever uses and was a waste.
I've had a short stint working at babies r us so I know how they coach their employees to be very persuasive about certain products and dolalr amounts on each registry doen there.
So, for those of you with children or children that are close to you... what's something you have/registered for/bought that you didn't end up using or wished you didn't buy?
Re: Baby gear question.

Lol! I would like to know the answer to this question as well...
travel system. I knew the one I wanted, but didn't get it. I bought a similar one and figure the inch here inch there in the dimensions didn't matter -- they did. I hated it and sold it on craigslist.
I should have either bought the one I wanted or gotten the carseat & snap frame (like I ended up doing) in the first place.
Ditto. And FWIW, the people at BRU gave me the gun and sent me on my way - I didn't feel pressured at all. I was on my own and liked it! I girl on a mission!
There were actually quite a few things! I never used the wipe warmer (it dried out the wipes). Never used the bottle warmer either. Mine took forever to heat up. Strangely, I never used the changing table (It got hidden under a mound of diapers that weren't in the registered for diaper hanger). BRU down here didn't let you try strollers, so I got the stroller I registered for and never used it b/c it drove horribly. And I registered for the monitor with the sensor pad, and never used the sensor pad B/c it didn't work with our crib.
And my advice to anyone having a baby- buy a diaper duck and a set of refills. IMO, it's the greatest thing ever.
::Runs off to figure out what a diaper duck is...::
Teeheehee - got sidetracked when I found THIS
Diaper duck- it's a travel thing that holds small scented bags. For when you are out and have to change a diaper but have nowhere to throw the dirty one. It's a blue tube thing with a duck on top. I always kept it in my diaper bag, and it was the most used thing in there (besides the diapers and wipes obviously)

I wonder if my parrot would let me diaper her.
Not that I have any babies of my own but I did nanny for a little girl for two years (started when she was 3 weeks) and her mom bought a recliner chair thingy that just vibrated but didn't bounce. She used it for maybe 2 months then outgrew it so mom ended up buying a bouncy seat. And the bottle warmer was used for about 2 months then it was just a pain because it took so long to warm up the bottles that it was faster to do it in hot water.
Some of the best things she bought were anything that could be used in different ways as she grew.
At first I thought, "Why would you ever want to diaper a duck?" But then I guess if it's a house pet it would make sense...
Truthfully, the "Wallmart" bag did seem to work much better than the fancy diaper this guy uses...
