WWYD? re: "babysitter" exposed to illness

My dad was supposed to watch DD tomorrow.

Well, he called me just now to let me know that he had to pick up my 10 yo niece from school because she was sick. He said she was vomitting all afternoon, and running a slight fever.

Now he wants to know if I still want him to come tomorrow, since he was exposed to my niece's illness.

WDYT? Part of me says that I don't want to take any chances, and I'd rather he not watch her. The other part of me says that he's not the one that was sick, and it's probably okay, and maybe I'm being a little over-protective.

If he doesn't come, I would have to call in to work, or ask my boss if I can work from  home (kinda iffy whether or not he'd say 'yes'). WWYD?

  • Thats a tough one.

If he didnt touch anything she did, he should be fine.

However, I am terrified of the stomach virus and if it was me, I wouldn't take any chances. If it was a cold, strep, anything else- I wouldn't worry, but for some reason the vomiting thing gets me. I wouldn't have him over.... keep in mind though, I am very paranoid!

  • I personally would not worry about it but I am not a big worrier about germs and never have been.  Now, I would not want DC to be around that sick child though but grandparents and adults I think are fine.

  • I'm not too worried about germs. I wouldn't let my baby with the child who had just been sick, but if the adult didn't have symptoms, I wouldn't worry. It is your call, though!

  • As long as he doesn't have symptoms, I wouldn't worry.  How sweet of him to think it through enough to ask you about it, though!
