Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Another meal time question...

So when did you DC actually start eating off a plate in front of him and not having to just put food on table for him...DS plays with the plate so we have to just keep giving him stuff in bites on the table.  Just doesnt seem right to me, but cant have him playing with plate or bowl and throwing it on floor with food in it can i??

Re: Another meal time question...

  • we have the plates/bowls that are suction cups on the bottom. He's been eating from those since about 12 mos

  • We just started this week with food on plates for DD, so far its been pretty good!  She doesn't play with the plate unless there is nothing on it.  We also have been giving her a fork.

Just keep working with him, I'm sure he will eventually stop. GL

  • Where do you get suction cup plates or bowls from?

  • I got DS some cheap plastic plates from Target $1 bin and he has been doing pretty well with them. He does sometimes throw them on the floor but only when he is done eating. I have also been putting food on a spoon and he has been getting the hang of putting it into his mouth. Im going to get him a toddler fork soon too.?
  • As of Monday, DD refuses to eat off her tray and her food must be on a plate.  She also needs a fork.  I have been just holding the plate while she eats.  I will be going shopping for suction cup plates/bowls and forks this weekend.
