PTing: am I stupid to wait?

Kate is 22 months and pretty verbal.  She's been telling me when she poops for months now, and now says "I pooping" when she's getting ready to poop and then "Ok.  All done.  Need new Huggies." when she's finished.  Today she actually asked me to poop on the potty before she went.  She is still wet after naps/nighttime and only notices when she's peed some of the time.

I'm 34 wks pregnant and have been ignoring her "signs" because I don't want to deal with it, but am I missing the boat?!  I've also been waiting because she is pretty slow gross motor wise and nowhere close to being able to pull down her pants, climb a step stool onto a pottyring, etc.  She can't even lower herself onto the little potty alone--I have to help her sit down.

WWYD?

Re: PTing: am I stupid to wait?

  • I feel ya!  I would wait only b/c of being 34 wks! Ooh but on the flip side, if you wait now, when would you do it?  6 months?  Is is going to be easier while carrying a little one?  Maybe you should do it and then the only thing you have to worry about is maybe a short relapse after the baby is born.

I'm in the same boat but not pregnant, lol.  DS actually asked to get out of the tub so he could go on the potty.  He also tells me when he has to go.  I just don't know if I'm ready for

-finding out where all the pottys are in every store

-carrying extra clothes in case of an accident

    -accidents

I hear good things about the 3 day potty training method.  Hopefully it would work for you in 3 days!  Sounds like she is ready.  GL!
