* New socks - I hate wearing and seeing people with holes in their socks.
*Good shoes - I have at least one pair of good all purpose (dress, casual, park).
*Gym membership - This is one thing we can't live without, and there are so many benefits for us health wise. We do put our membership on a 3 month hold during the summer because we are outside being active during the summer.

My daughter's preschool. She loves it and I feel it's really important. I'll sacrifice other things before I would cut that. Luckily I make a little extra money on the side that covers that expense.
Food and Water, Shelter, Electricity, Some form of transportation, Clothing.
Edit: I'll add not being in debt (consumer debt, not including a possible mortgage or student loans). I won't send my family into debt to be a SAHM, but it's important enough to me that I would give up almost everything else, as long as DH is still on board (which he would be).
I wouldn't give up my Dish. But, it's only $65./mo, so it's not like getting rid of it is the difference between paying bills and not paying bills!
I probably wouldn't want to give up Internet either, but I WAH (I'm a Realtor, so I work commission only). If I ever wanted any kind of success at it, I need my Internet.
Again, that's only $22./mo, so not like it's going to make a HUGE difference.
I could not give up internet - but TV? Maybe, as long as I can watch all my shows online
We also wouldn't cut out things like retirement savings and continuing savings for us and DD's college in order for me to stay home FT.
My DH now is making what we said would have allowed me to SAH FT - I have found my PT job gives me a break and it is allowing us to be less tight with our budget AND save even MORE, so I have decided it is in our best interest for me to keep working.
Re: Poll: Things you will not give up to be a SAHM
Food, decent housing, 2 cars, alcohol, health insurance, cable.
Actually I could do without cable. But DH would not

All that plus internet.
Cell phone, health insurance, good food and drinks, occasional dinners out, air conditioning, Internet, our house.
I'd be fine w/o cable but DH would not!
I was actually just thinking of this this morning! I could not give up:
Our house, cell phone, good food, cars, high speed internet, health insurance, good coffee, and cable.
Food and Water, Shelter, Electricity, Some form of transportation, Clothing.

If things were different and we had to cut back on things I would give up just about everything material except internet!

Cable/Internet & Cell phone.
My cell is my business number (wedding photography) and I need internet to run my website/answer emails.
of course the general things we need to live, then insurance, cars, etc, but as for frivolous things -
gym membership
cable/internet
cell
alarm
there are reasons I still work PT

- Owning our own home
That's all I can really say would be an issue with us. I could make do without the other luxuries. Thankfully it's not an issue, but if it were.
