I think im going to sign up for the exercise, the breathing techniques that are offered, and to meet other soon-to-be-moms......but i thought id ask if anyone has participated and what you thought them? I have never been to any yoga class before.
I've been to lots of yoga classes, but no prenatal ones. None of the places I like offer that, so I've just been doing it at home now w/ dvds, but I'd definitely recommend it, esp if you're a beginner...being in a class w/ a teacher to help you do things right is crucial. Yoga is great and has SO many benefits!
I took yoga when I wasn't pregnant and loved it in class form. Now I'm just doing the poses that I know are good for pregnancy and they have really helped me, especially the hip openers. I would go for it!
I do it and love it! It's great to talk to other pregnant women, and i definitely push myself harder in a class than if I were to use a video. I had done yoga before, but only at my gym and it wasn't very intense. the breathing and relaxation exercises are great prep too!
I love my yoga class. It's hard work, but it feels so good and my back feels great for days afterward. I had bought a DVD, but it's so easy to turn off, I had to sign up for a class so I'd actually do it.
I thought it was going to be pretty lightweight, but the instructor is a doula and has a few kids of her own so she makes us sit against the wall with blocks between our legs for a minute at a time- because she says that's how long the average contraction is. I know she's preparing us really well to get through labor though and it's fun to chat with other new moms before class begins.
I looove my class. It's $15 or $12 for 10...I really enjoy it a lot and highly recommend it. the breathing is great and is supposedly going to help during labor.
I actually just took my first prenatal yoga class this past weekend. We have two studios in town that offer the classes. I have taken other types of yoga classes before, but they were much different. I really like the prenatal class because it is a slower pace, and is very relaxing. It mostly focuses on breathing, stretching and meditation. I highly recommend it!
Holy cow, my prenatal classes are $20 each. Then again, I live in SF and everything costs an arm and a leg here. I highly recommend the classes over the videos. Meeting people, pushing yourself harder and no interruptions are the benefits and it's well worth it, IMO.

I start a week from tonight. I'm so excited. It's offered through my hospital. Only $10 a session.
