3rd Trimester

What's your baby-friendly car?

I have a Honda Odyssey which I LOVE, but DH drives an Explorer. Since all four of our children will be in car seats/ boosters for a long time, he's going to need to get a new vehicle.  Any ideas on a manlier version of a minivan? Something with a 3rd row?  Thanks!!

Re: What's your baby-friendly car?

  • I'm in love with the GMC Acadia, it can have either a 2-2-3 or a 2-3-3 seat set up and the doors open like normal, not sliding like a mini-van.  It's the only car we can agree on :-)

  • a subaru impreza WRX.

    she's gonna be a rally baby :)

we're using DH's "baby" as the main ride because it has all-wheel drive and better crash ratings than my ford taurus.

  • We bought a Rogue and also have an Altima. My third row dream cars are a Toyota Highlander or a Hyundai Veracruz.
  • I was going to post about the GMC Acadia too - I think those are very nice looking cars.

I drive a 4Runner (not giving this car up, it is my dream car!!) and DH has a 4 door Civic.  He traded in his Nissan 350Z convertible back in October for a more family-friendly car.  HA, didn't expect the little Civic but it works and is SO cheap.

  • I just posted about the third row seat Trailblazer or the new Traverse has a third row too.  Its more of a crossover with all wheel drive.  HTH

We're trying to save for a down payment on a bigger house so we may end up buying DH's company car (Ford Focus) when he's up for a new one.  But I'm still hoping for the Acadia!

  • We were looking at the new Mazda CX9 or the new Chevy Traverse. Both are crossovers but both have very spacious 3rd row seating.

I settled on the Dodge Magnum becuase it is more in budget now, but I would love either of those cars.

  • I drive a BMW X-5 and MH drives a BMW 328.  He works for BMW so that is the reasoning behind our car choices.  We only plan on having 2 kids, so both cars should last us for a while.

  • A friend of mine has a Chevy Tahoe.  It's got the third row and it's very spacious.
  • Our main transportation is DH's Expedition, and it is so-kid friendly I love it. There is always enough room for everyone and everything, plus there's room for comfort. When I drive DS anywhere, he's in my Rav-4, which is good for smaller-me, but when #2 arrives, it will be overcrowded.

  • One of my friends has a Chrysler Pacifica and she and her DH both love it. I've been in it before and it seemed very nice. Just throwing that out as another 3rd row option for you to take a look at.

  • What about a Tahoe or Honda Pilot?

We have a Toyota 4Runner and it is fabulous!  I think you can get them with a 3rd row seat but it might be a little tight with 4 car seats.

  • I was surprised with an 08 Cadillac Escalade  by DH for my birthday in October.  Loved it third row seats, dvd players, loaded. . .  thought it was going to be perfect, since we'll have three kids in car seats/boosters lol I can't even ride in right now it's too high for me to get into and I've never had the chance to learn how to put down the seat to let anyone in the back row  . . . oh well lol I hate it as of right now :) but, we'll see good luck
  • I have an '07 yukon... and I love it. Although, now- with the ecomomy being the way it is... I am regreting such a big payment and something so bad on gas.... Oh well- it is what it is!
