2nd Trimester

I gained 10 pounds since my last appointment!

I too am a hater of weight posts, but only the ones where they are saying "I haven't gained any weight yet and I'm 20 weeks.  Should I be worried?"  Well, mine isn't one of those because I gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks!  Holy smokes, could that be a record?  My doctor didn't say a word about it, so I'm not worried, just flabbergasted!

Re: I gained 10 pounds since my last appointment!

  • Don't feel bad, I gained 8.  My doc hasn't said one single word about my weight gain, so I'm not worried.  For the most part I eat pretty healthy, so I don't think about it too much (except when I'm on the scale at the Dr's   lol).

  • I think I've gained most of my pregnancy weight in the last 4 weeks, which probably adds up to about 10 pounds...I'm up about 15 pounds total.  I'm not worried.

If your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either.  Some people gain weight differently than others and at different times.

  • Same thing happened to me between my 16 and 20 weeks appointments. Then I only gained 4 lbs during the next 4 weeks. Don't worry!

  • ha ha, Noooo you're right on track with everything I have read/ been told!
  • Starting mid-2nd tri with DS I gained 10lb's every month until the end of my pregnancy with him. Sucked =/

Well, I take that back. I didn't gain anything to last week of being pg, LOL.

  • I was up 8 Dec-Jan and up 10 Jan-Feb....I don't look it, but I've really packed on more than I wanted to, especially at this stage.  She knows I'm eating healthy and working out extra since Jan., but it is still packing on and he's growing REALLY fast (2-3 weeks ahead of schedule).  If it doesn't slow down, she wants me to meet with the dietician just to "fine tune" but I don't know how much I can change other than GIVING up sweets, which is OUT of the question!
  • I gained 12, lol. Don't sweat it, this is the time that it's perfectly normal and healthy to gain that amount.
  • I went through phases with DS where I gain a lot all at once and there very little.  I changed nothing about my diet.  I think our bodies just do strange things.  As long as you know you are eating healthy, let your body do what it wants to do.  You can't stop it even if you try!

  • I did that last time too! I was SHOCKED but she was like IT'S NORMAL!
  • Don't worry! I think I've gained about 8 lbs. since 20 wks. I weighed myself the other day and almost fell over. lol I'm trying not to stress about it.
  • I feel the same way!!! I gained 6lbs in 2 weeks though!!! I really had not gained much weight the whole time, but between my 18 week and 20 week appointment I gained the 6 lbs. My doctor didn't say anything, so I asked about it and he said that it is normal for every women to jump up in weight at least once during their pregnancy. I also found out at my 18 week appointment that we are having TWIN GIRLS! (maybe that had something to do with it) Embarrassed
  • I was up 7 from week 20 to week 24.  Then I lost 4 yesterday after, how can I put this mildly, dropping the kids off at the pool?  It was glorious.
  • I gained all of my weight between 19 and 20 weeks. 10 pounds total in one week! I was freaked out when it happened but I didnt gain 10 the next two weeks so i guess he just had a growth spurt or something
  • Same thing happened to me. I had gained nothing up to my 18wk appt (I had horrible ALL DAY morning sickness til 17wks), then at my 20wk appt I had gained 11pds in 2wks! Then at my next appt 4 wks later, I had only gained 2 more pounds. Dr. said this was normal as well.

  • I gained 12 between weeks 16 and 20.  That was my only gain so far though so Dr said not to worry.
  • I gained 13 between 18 and 22w.  13.  I had gained 6 up until 18.  Somebody isn't going to be facing the scale at the 26w appointment!!!

  • Hahaha. No worries. You'll have periods like that, then the next time you'll only gain 2. It's weird how that works.

lol I told myself from now on, I'm just not going to look.

  • Meh, no big deal.  This is a big gaining time... I gained 6 or 7 lbs at my 24 week appt.  My doc didn't say a word.

  • OMG, at my 22 week appt I had gained 6 in 4 weeks and my Dr. said something WTF????  I had only gained 14 in all and I am small to begin with. NOw I do not feel bad and will have a huge sundae tonight ;)
  • I had the same weight gain between my 20 and 24 week appointment. I think it is because there is such a growth spurt at that point....at least that is what I keep telling myself. Smile

  • I also gained 10 between my 20 and 24 week appts. My nurse told me that most people will have one appt where they have a big gain. I was shocked as well.
  • Oh thank god...I'm so glad everyone else has had this happen. I didn't want to write a weight post either, but it happend to me too! My dr. made the whole "you don't have to eat for two" comment, and I was like WTF I'm not! I've been really good actually. I'm so glad it's not just me.
  • Pretty sure this is happening to me as we speak. My 20 week appt is on Tuesday and I think I have seen the scale go up at least a pound (it feels like every day). As long as your doctor was not concerned, just think - it's what supposed to be happening ...

  • I gained 8 pounds between my 20-24 appt. My doctor (cruelly) told me to lay off the cookies...
  • Same thing happened to me between weeks 18 and 22. My doc wasn't worried about it either. She said it happens a lot.
  • So glad to hear I am not alone in this. ?I have gained over 7 lbs in the last 4 weeks. ?I thought it was just me, but you ladies are making me feel a bit better.
  • I have also gained 10 lbs in the last 4 weeks.  I was expecting a fast weight gain because (like with DS) I gain weight towards the second half of the pregnancy. This is a little bit too fast.

I am ONE pound away from reaching the highest weight I got to when pg (overdue) with DS.  ugh!

  • Wow, all these posts make me hate my doc a little bit.  I got an eyebrow raise for 6.5 lbs in 4 weeks and he told me that I better watch what I'm eating.  Jerk.
  • I somehow gained 20 lbs in 5 weeks (between 15wks and 20wks)...it was weird, I'd stay the same weight for a while, then one day I'd wake up 5 lbs more than when I went to bed. Surprise
  • I gained 8 at my weigh in on Monday.  That brings my total to 8.  I'm not bragging because I know that number is going to change A LOT!  Today I was starving every few hours.  It happens!

  • I gained 8 pounds between 15 & 20 weeks.  I'm on track to gain 6 for my next appt at 25 weeks, but it may be more like another 8...I think my metabolic rate is now zero- even salads make me gain!
