i tell people we're having a boy and they say, "DH must be sooo happy!". of course he's happy. and he would've been just as happy with a girl. don't assume you know how DH feels about our child. it just pisses me off.
Yes, except we also get the opposite. People say "Oh, moms love little boys. Dads usually love the little girls." Uhhhh......how do you respond to that?!
That's my FI's biggest pet peeve. Even though he has told me that he would like a boy first in the past, he hates when other people assume that. They'll say "oh I bet you want a boy right" and he gives them the evil eye and says "no, I want a happy healthy baby."
Hmm.... well, I understood it when I got those comments. DH WAS so happy to be having a boy. He had a daughter and loved her, absolutely. But there was a some pride that I picked up on in having a boy, passing his name down, etc.
It's natural for people to assume that women want daughters and men want sons even though we'd really all love whatever we get. EVERYONE is telling me, "I bet you're hoping for a girl this time!" As if I don't love my son and haven't been happy all this time with my boy....
(although I do want a girl this time just because one of each would be cool and I'd like to experience both)
yeah, really annoying. my DH was just as excited when we found out we were having a girl. although he said he has his work cut out for him cause he doesn't know what girls like, he only knows trucks and action figures. lol.
Yes, every time I tell someone it's a boy they say "Oh your husband must be so excited". Well duh, he's excited anyway. Just because it's a boy doesn't mean I can't be excited too.
I'm glad I've never gotten that. I'm sure it would damn awkward if I had to say "no, he actually really wanted a girl." He's happy with having a boy, but I do despise the assumption that men automatically must want a boy. My husband hates sports and typical "boy" stuff, so I'm not sure why he'd be peeing himself with happiness over having another penis in the house.?

Re: i absolutely hate it when
I guess people just assume that all men only want son's. Stupid people!

Yeah, it is a little odd. As if he would have been unhappy with a girl....
Of course my husband was terrified of a girl, so I can't quite bring myself to be offended.
PS. Your dog is adorable.
