Formula feeding moms--question for ya

My DD has always been a formula feeder.  Anyway, when you take your FF LO out for the day, do you take ready to feed bottles, bring powder + mix, or bring bottles in a cooler type apparatus?

Believe it or not, I have never taken DD out for any lengthy periods--just short trips!!

We are going to take her on a daytrip in April and I want to know what to do to be prepared.

THANKS!

  • I have one of these:

I fill each compartment with the appropriate amt. of formula, and take bottles. ?Then when it's time to feed, I put bottled water in the baby bottle, add powder, and ta-dah! ?A bottle!?

  • We always pre-filled the bottles, then when she was hungry, we just mixed in the formula.

  • I bring bottles with the water already poured into them (with the caps on, obviously) and I have one of those containers that has 3 sections that stores the formula (you pre-measure it).  I just add formula to the water as needed.  He has reflux and does better when his bottles are warmed up, so I find a place that serves drinks to give me a cup of hot water.

    We do this exactly

This is what we do. We use the Avent formula dispenser container.

  • I take the ready-to-feed cans because that's the only way Alimentum is available in Canada (no powder here) so I don't have a choice.  DS has taken to sucking back a full 8 oz in one sitting, and the cans are 8oz, so it's pretty convenient and we don't need a cooler :)

  • I know you aren't supposed to do it this way, but I pre mix the formula in the bottles and then add water from a water bottle and shake it up.
  • I prefill bottles with water and bring formula in a formula dispenser.

  • If it is a short trip, I bring up to 2 4oz bottles in a cooler - otherwise I mix as needed.
  • DD only likes warm bottles, so we bought a thermos and fill it with hot/warm water before we leave the house. We have the powdered formula holder like the other ladies on this list and we also bring 2 little bottles 8 oz bottles of water. That way, she has warm formula when we're out all day. When we travel to another state, we bring the thermos empty to get through airport security and have Starbucks fill it with hot water for our plane ride.
