Question now re: Dryer Sheets

I read in one of the posts below about girls using dryer sheets.  I thought you weren't supposed to use those with baby clothes because of what it leaves on them making them more prone for irritation and less flame resistant or whatever??
I've been using Tide Free on the things I'm washing to get prepared and I HATE the way everything smells.  No dryer sheet or dryer sheet (on adult clothes) everything smells burnt to me although the Tide has no smell out of the bottle.

Re: Question now re: Dryer Sheets

  • I don't use dryer sheets on baby clothes.

  • good question...I only use the tide free and also hate the after smell?
  • I've stopped using dryer sheets all together.  You can add natural fabric softener by using vinegar in the rinse cycle.  It's not great even for non baby clothes, coating stuff with perfume and other chemicals.
  • I use All Free & Clear detergent and now use Bounce Free dryer sheets they have no perfumes or dyes.

And how do the clothes smell?

  • Method makes a dryer sheet that's made with plant extracts and does not have the chemicals that remove the flame retardant properties from the baby/kid clothes. Even at 4 years old I only use those with my kids clothes. You can get them at Target, whole foods...most places that sell Method cleaning products. They have them in "fresh scent" and "lavendar". I love the lavendar!!!
  • We've been using Method brand delicate wash, which is for babies.  It smells pretty good, actually -- very clean.  Also, Method makes dryer sheets (we got them at BRU) which smell again very clean and fresh.  Just a thought -- I also hate the way the "Free and Clear" products smell.  It's almost like you didn't wash the clothes!
