3rd Trimester

Wt gain Q for those who gained a lot . . .

I'm still in the 2nd tri, but I hope you don't mind me posting here.

I'm 25w1d and I've gained about 27 lbs already.  It's crazy b/c with DS I gained 30 total and I didn't have to watch what I ate or anything.  I just assumed it would be about the same this time.  My doctor isn't concerned or anything, and I wasn't for quite awhile, but my wt gain is not slowing down and I'm just wondering ...

1.  If you gained about what I have gained at about 25 weeks, how much total are you up at full term?  (I'm shooting for early 40s at this point)

and

2.  Did you pass the GD test? (I'm wondering if my large wt gain is maybe caused by GD, my test is next week)

Thanks for humoring me with this wt post.  : )

Re: Wt gain Q for those who gained a lot . . .

  • That sounds about right where I was at 25 weeks.  I'm almost 39 weeks and I've gained 40 lbs....so that is a realistic goal.  My Dr. isn't concerned about my wt. gain and at this point neither am I.  It sucks but oh well....I started of at a normal wt too.

  • I don't remember how much I gained by week 25, but I can tell you I gained around 40 lbs total.

    I passed my GD test.

  • I started out at a normal weight. I was 25 pounds at 25 weeks. I was hoping not to gain any more than 40 as well. Last week when I got on the scale I was at 43 pounds with 4 weeks left to go. At that point, I said screw it and have ate whatever I wanted. I ended up losing 2 pounds. I'm assuming I'll hit right around the 50 pound mark by the time the baby gets here. I didnt have GD, even with the family history.
  • I had a hugge weight gain between 18-22 weeks. (14 lbs) It was over the holidays and I really only gained weight in my belly. I also had an u/s and baby was 2lbs. 3 oz. which was like 90th percentile so my mother and I figured GD was in my future. But I passed my glucose test w/ flying colors.

As long as the doc isn't concerned, I would not stress too much! GL!

  • I can't remember my exact numbers from 25 weeks, but I've been a little stressed about rapid weight gain too. My doctor doesn't even tell me the numbers unless I ask, because he's not concerned that I'm out of variance. However, at about 35 weeks I believe I have gained 35 pounds already. It freaks me out a little, but I know that I'm eating healthy and that the baby is measuring correctly, so what can ya do?!

p.s. I passed my GD test.

  • I think I was about the same as you around 25 weeks.  I know I was about 20 lbs at 20 wks.  Now I'm about 45 lbs... with 6 more weeks to go.  Yikes!

But my Dr. isn't concerned and I pass the 1-hour GD test.  I was a normal weight, if not slightly underweight when I got pg.

  • I passed my GD test.  I too started off at a normal weight and am up 35 lbs at 34 weeks, despite eating healthy and exercising as much as I can.  Its frustrating I know but some people just seem to put on the weight for whatever reason - we're just lucky I guessSad  I try to take heart because my mother has always been thin and she gained an average of 40 lbs with each of her pregnancies.  I think its just the way some of us are made.

My doctor isn't concerned about it, but another doctor in the practice asked me at one of my appointments if I was "watching my carbs" because I shouldn't really gain any more weight.  Yeah, right, I'm on a diet right now in my eighth month of pregnancy.  STFU.

  • I have gained a total of 50 pounds.  I passed the GD test with flying colors.  As long as you are eating right and getting exercise I wouldn't worry about it.

  • At 25 weeks I was at about 23 lbs. I passed my GD no problem. But, I know I don't eat perfectly and my exercise is limited due to a hernia that can't be fixed until after baby. I fully expect to be about 45 lbs up when baby gets here, which SUCKS but I know I can lose it after.

  • I think I had gained about the same as you by 25 weeks.  With my first pregnancy, I gained a total of 49 pounds and was trying to watch what I ate this time, but I'm STILL gaining a crazy amount.  Right now I'm 33 weeks and have gained probably 40 pounds.  I guess I just gain a lot while pregnant.  *shrugs*

I passed my GD test both with the last pregnancy and with this one.

Also, I lost all of my weight plus a few pounds after my son was born, so don't worry too much.  ;)

  • Im 29 weeks and I have gained 35 lbs. I started at a healthy weight, maybe a little underweight. My doctor said it's not healthy to go over 40 lbs full term. I passed my GD test and actually I am borderline hypoglycemic. That means I crave sugar/carbs all the time and if I don't eat right when I feel hungry I will pass out. It also makes me fall asleep at the gym lol. So there really isn't anything I can do about gaining more weight than recommended. I just know that I am eating right and the baby is healthy so I'm not worried. Sometimes I feel really fat cause I've always been small, but I just have to remember how good it's gonna feel when the baby is here and I lose all this weight. My cousin told me that she gained 60 lbs with her first and did not have GD!
  • I'm up about 35 lbs at 28 weeks. I passed by GD test with flying colors.
