Do any of you know the percentages of women who deliver at 38 weeks, 39, 40, and so on? My dad is planning on going to his class reunion in Florida, but said he wasn't sure if he should because I'll be 38 weeks pregnant, and wouldn't want to miss anything. I told him that being a first time mom, I highly doubted I would go earlier than my due date, but you never know! I tried googling this, but found nothing. Any idea?
Re: Does anyone know?....
I have no idea on the statistics, but I delivered my first at 36 weeks.
I'd say that anyone who really wants to be involved in the birth of a child (during or right after) probably shouldn't plan to be too far away anywhere from 37-40 weeks or maybe even a couple weeks longer.
This is what Pregnology says at the bottom of their 'How far along am i?' section:?
"Your due date is an estimate, it is an average. At the beginning of week 38, -2 weeks before the due date-, 2 out of 10 women already gave birth. At the beginning of week 39, -1 week before the due date-, 4 out of 10 women gave birth. At the beginning of week 40, -the due date-, 7 out of 10 women gave birth. At the beginning of week 41, -1 week after the due date- 9 out of 10 women gave birth."
So, it looks like they estimate the odds at 20%...but I'm sure it's hard to take into account all the factors that would impact when you deliver.?
