At 21 weeks, the baby can start tasting different things through the amniotic fluid. WTE says: "researchers have noted that babies who were exposed to certain tastes in utero via the amniotic fluid were more eager to eat foods with that same taste after birth. Want your baby to eat his or her broccoli later? Eat yours now!"
Are you trying to change your eating habits so the baby will be more accustomed to healthy foods? Or, not so much? I'm sitting here eating a spinach salad with boiled egg whites and balsamic dressing. I'm wondering how long this phase will last!

This is true...my son is a "green food junkie" he loves broccoli, onions, cauliflower, asparagus, believe it or not, brussel spouts..anything green. I craved green salads all pregnancy long. These are mostly foods my Dh doesn't care for.
I absolutely do not buy into this line of thinking. My mom eats fabulously well and loves vegetables and I have grown up hating them. Likewise I only started to eat eggs and tomatoes in the last five years and these were completely off my list of foods I would even have on my plate.
I think children's food preferences are shaped more in childhood vs. in utero so I will continue to eat what I like - which happens to be whatever fabulous foods my former caterer of a husband makes me.
I will say that my own taste buds have changed dramatically while being pregnant. I adore garlic normally and can't even stand the smell of it now. Many juices taste like moldy fruit to me. Red Wine tastes like vinegar (and I only buy expensive red wine that others assure me is fabulous but not so to me) and have gone from loving lemon in the first few weeks of pregnancy to not being able to stand it now.
I hadn't realized it started at week 21.
I guess Brendan is going to like corn flakes and shepherds pie.
