DH has a family reunion 3 days before I'm due this summer that he's really wanting to go to. When I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea (you know, because I could go into labor and we'd be 7 hours from home and all) he told me that his mom and cousin could deliver the baby if anything happened. His mom is a MA and counsin is a OB.

Heck no! I do not want to go into labor in a cabin with no air conditioning while your whole family watches and my MIL and your cousin (who I don't know) look at my coochie, thanks!

Oh absolutely not. Tell him he can go by himself if he'd like and you'll call him when you go into labor and he can meet you at the hospital.

Don't you just love that? My DH wants to go to a friend's second wedding in a tiny town in Mexico (with no nearby modern healthcare facilities of course) when I'm about 7 months, and I'm like, no way. And that's with several months to go!

You're not even supposed to be traveling outside of the area after the 3rd trimester, much less being 7 hours away 3 days before you're due.

Oh I feel for you! My DH wants to take a family vacation up to our house in Maine in July. Um, no! Why would he subject me to a 4 hour car ride and then the likely posibility of me going into labor and risk delivery be some random doctor? Seriously, do our DHs think that just because we're having a baby that we're okay with just anyone looking at our lady bits???

There is no way your dr. will let you be that far from the hospital so close to your due date. I have an event 90 minutes away at 38 weeks and it's questionable even then. I wouldn't go!
